  • Which 1400mm T-28, FMS or Airfield

    Hey Guys,

I don't want to start a war or anything here, but I am wanting one of the 1400mm size larger T28s, and while I would prefer the FMS, it is 100.00 more than the competing Airfield version. Of course, I would have to add about 35 more for shipping, so the actual difference comes out a little more than 60 dollars. Have any of you had any experience with Airfield? I know they used to be made by FMS, but no idea how makes them now, but it sure looks like the same molds as the FMS. Are parts interchangeable, like props, hubs, etc.?

I will likely go with the FMS just because I like MRC, but I would also like to know what the differences between the two planes are as well.

    Thanks,

    Loneflier

    Loneflier,
I used to fly Airfield 1400mm warbirds before I found MRC and FMS. I finally gave up Airfield when maidening a new 1400 Corsair the firewall failed in flight and totaled the bird. Now I know these kind of rare catastrophes happen to all mgf.'s, but found that FMS does have superior lighting, retracts, and details such as paint and finish.
In addition, I will only deal with MRC now since they have uncompromised service and product quality. In the long run the little extra $ for FMS really does save you in the long run.

      Thanks CT,
I appreciate you sharing your experience with Airfield. You are right that any manufacturer can have problems, and I know that Airfield has some good reviews on line. Before I found MRC, I bought several planes from NP, and have to admit that I never had any problems with them, other than high shipping costs. I definitely prefer MRC for a number of reasons, not the least is their customer service. I'll probably get the FMS T28, just wanted to research it some first.

I'm notably a little biased here but I'll say access to parts and the possibility of improvements down the line make it an easy choice for me. These T28s are really nice models with a ton of cool features. We filmed the Gray one and the Orange and white one for the Youtube channel and had a blast both times. My favorite is the Gray vid. Also for a closer look we did a Gray Trojan mod vid which will give you a close up look at the plane and show off some of the features and talk about cool and easy little tips.

For me there is no question to it , go with the FMS .
          1. The FMS is one of the best built models for their detail and quality

          2. Parts are in stock unless sold out then they have already been ordered and are on the way

          3. MRC is unmatched in customer service , I can say from experience they do CARE !!!!

Thank you Ryan and  H64 for the replies. I am definitely leaning towards the FMS and MRC for precisely the reasons you stated. After some research, it does look like parts can be a problem for the Airfield plane, and I know MRC is very good about keeping parts in stock.
I've got a PZ T28, and the Dynam T28, and an 800mm FMS T28. All fly really well. There is something about the design of this airframe that makes it translate to an excellent flying model. I am thinking the extra power and size of the 1400mm T28 would make a favorite go to kind of plane.

The new Airfield is made by A-RC and is not the same as FMS. The Airfield Corsair is way better looking then the FMS verson. The FMS has to flat of wings and no retractable tail wheel
