RE: FW 190 Return to flight!

Hey SOB you need to get some skis to put on . Look in the wheels and gear tab , you'll find them there .

Hey guys Rich Baker has a good little video on airbrushing that will give you what you need to know to get started. Just Google it and I'm sure you'll find it.
One more thing; I found with house paint you really need to thin it out a lot as it comes pretty thick in the can. There are really expensive air brush sets out there but mine was a $40 cheapo in Canada and it works fine.

RE: FW 190 Return to flight!

What a winter we had here in Massachusetts, so glad the white stuff is finally gone!

Go the FW out and about the last few days, slowly gaining back some confidence and shaking off the rust after these past few months stuck indoors, scoped out a new field which has been empty during the day last 3 times I've gone there this week. Got some footage today, some nice dusty take off's and a few low passes. Starting to feel alot more comfortable with the bird, though landings were not that great due to the wheels on the landing gear being all over the place, the last landing they came down nearly at a 45* to the ground. Those damn set screws just don't want to seem to hold, really need to JB weld em or otherwise immobilize them for good, at this point the gear being loose is the only hindrance to my landings. Hope to figure out a solution before Sunday when I plan to go next.

Anyways got a little video today in the bright sunshine, weather was comfortable at 62* and a light breeze up to 5mph from the South. Put some music in as I feel its a little more tolerable than the awful GoPro audio.

Glad to be back in the sky for another season!

Hey SOB, looks great, nice field to fly from as well.
Hoping to fly tomorrow as the school ground will be empty by the time I get home.

RE: FW 190 Return to flight!

Got a Mobius cam with a gift card I had for Amazon, after getting the thing figured out I took it out for a test flight this afternoon. Footage from the Mobius is from the top of the plane and the footage from my friends little no name camera is on the bottom, clearly a difference in quality in the image far in favor of the Mobius. I think I'll be getting a few more of these to do some more videos in the future.

The field from which I have been flying lately was being used for soccer practice so we met up with another friend of mine where he flies. Field is HUGE which is great however the landing situation leaves alot to be desired, fields are all recently chewed up by tractors and the road we were parked on was anything but flat, leaving a small area to land in. Given the winds today 10/15/20 with gusts above 30 it was certainly a gamble, once in the air it was no problem but landings were anything but smooth, winds were changing from W to N with little predictability. Stuck the first landing by the grace of god, the second landing was a nice smooth approach and probably would have been fine if I had room to do so, but as you'll see it wasn't the case. Good news is the plane is fine, landing gear just rotated 45* which I've already fixed. Lots of cruising around, so if you wan't to skip to it, the the crash landing (all three views of it) comes at 4:40. Also again music is just better than the noise of the wind, no real thought went into the score!

Great!!! Good feeling when you get the camera working and get to record a flight.
