I agree with Rocketeer, great looking jet. I am anxious to hear your report on the first flight, and see a video if possible!

Sweet looking jet!! Ditto for a flight video. I'm guessing this one takes a little more than a 3S battery

          Hey Hippie,
Congrads on your new toy. If you have never flown the 6s model before, be aware that setting the correct angle on the nozzles is essential. I am still test flying mine attempting to rid it of a nasty tendency to either pitch up or down when you pull power on short final/landing. I find it best to always fly the TV  except in fast flight where it is just too touchy. Until the cause of this can be identified/solved I am maintaining minimal power to touchdown. I am currently modding my F-18 with a Viper 8s motor/fan combo., the twin 4s packs fit perfectly in-line in the bay (So I can fly off grass).

Thanks CT , this is the 64mm version but the HP so I'm 4s in it . This size doesn't have the vectoring in it .
I do however have the F-35 70mm with the Vectoring but its not been outside yet . I have it set to switch it on or off on the vertical thrust .

                    RE: New toy

I'm thinking you're right Sean! I have to admit, I'm kind of interested in Hippies "gliders" which is why I was looking at the thread... I bought my son the F9F for Xmas (he originally wanted one as his first plane so now that he is adept at flying he finally got it) and I'm anxious to see what Hippies reaction is to this new one. The only EDF I've ever had was my Freewing Seagull but it's not like what Bryan has there in the F-18 plus the Seagull flies better with a prop (more flight time). I've had my eye on the Freewing F-86 for awhile but I don't think I have enough open pavement for it. As you remember, lots of lightpoles and curbs. LOL!

                      RE: New toy

Flygirl I really enjoy the F9F . But there is some CG issues .

If you hand launch and belly land just use the suggested battery . I believe its a 1600 . Slide it all the way forward and all is good .

I put the gear on mine and even with the steering servo up front it's does not CG !!! To use the gear I put 3 1/4 oz squares behind the nose cone and then battery up as far as it will go and all should be good . The nose gear prevents the battery from going completely forward and that's why the CG problems. This was a hard learning curve but that's what makes it fly .

Turn down the throws , mine are moving at 40% or less . It is a very twitchy plane . But do those things and it's very fun . I like it some much I bought 5 batteries for it . Don't go more than 3:30 or you'll have a dead battery.

Hope this helps , please feel free to ask if I missed anything. Want to see it flying too so video it for us !!

                        RE: New toy

Will do! I always get to do the maiden flights for him as he's still a bit gun shy but he just started learning last spring and he progressed from the little Champ, to the Hobbyzone Cub, to a Bixler, and now a Dynam Corsair. I read what you wrote about the CG on another thread so I'll make sure we get that battery all the way up. I think were gonna make it a belly flopper with the crappy fields we fly on. How about launching it with a hand toss? How much expo are you using? I'll tell him about the 40 percent throws. All the way around?

No I have around 60 % on the Ailerons as far as Expo , I never learned with any set . I guess what I'm trying to say is all I ever do is just turn down the thro's . I learned to fly with a Sim and myself so was never taught about the Expo so have never adjusted it . I am very easy on the sticks so guess I will be ok . Nor do I own a Flight Gyro , Stabilizer or what ever you call them . For me , just me , I know if I landed or I screwed up it was me that did it .
I have no problem at all with anyone using one I think it's a great tool I just prefer not using .

Thanks Bryan... :) That's why I was asking because the most expo I use is 10%. Good... Thank you!

that's interesting.  I have mine set at 30% just 'cause that's what Captain Mike was using and so here you go.
I really should try raising it and lowering it, once I've got my throws sorted out, I probably will, just to satisfy my need to tinker.
BTW, Bryan, I gather your going to paint your Pandora?  Cool, you'll have to keep us up-to-date on what your plans are.
I've been trying to keep a collection of different paint jobs on Pandoras just because they seem to be the ideal plane to paint.

I finally used Polycrylic on mine this weekend. Wish I had done it when it was new but I didn't know about it. It's a dead ringer for your Pandora #2 now.... :) Tonight I'm going to finish my Ferocious Frankie P-51 in satin. Nothing else to do with an ice storm going on....  :-/
