  • Reversed steering on FMS “Hell’s Bells” P-39

I recently purchased an FMS “Hell’s Bells” P-39 and discovered that when putting right rudder input the steering goes to to the left and vice versa. There are independent servos for the rudder and front gear and are the same servo. It does not appear to be using a reversing y harness as I tried switching it thinking it may have been wired up incorrectly for some reason. I have a friend who has the yellow version of the otherwise exact same airplane and it has exactly the same setup. Anyone encounter this problem? Thanks

I don't understand this statement. You say there are "independent" servos but then you say it's the "same" servo. Which is it? Are there 2 servos or just one (the same one) that controls both the steering and rudder?

OK, nevermind, I just looked at the manual (I don't have this plane) and it appears that there are 2 servos in the tail of the plane - one for the ELE and one for the RUD. There is also a servo in the nose of the plane that controls the steering. If this is the case, then you just pick one or the other and put a servo reverser on it. OR, you put the rudder into the RUD channel and put the steering on another empty channel (if you have such a RX and TX) and mix it to RUD and reverse in the TX as needed.
