  • ESC Brake Setting for Speedsters (Moray and Rare Bear)

I know the Freewing Moray has the brake set for the motor (factory ESC preset.)

Does anyone know why the Moray has a recommended brake set?
Should the brake be set for other high rpm speed demons such as the Rare Bear?

    Thanks,
    Bill

RE: ESC Brake Setting for Speedsters (Moray and Rare Bear)

    Hi Bill,

The only reason I can see for using a brake set on the ESC, would be for a plane with a folding prop, such as a glider so it would reduce drag when gliding with the power off.

I have been studying this plane. The reason for the factory brake set is for landing. The prop will stop when you kill the throttle, but the prop might be in the wrong position before you land on the grass. Watch the prop when landing. If it's in the wrong position slightly bump the throttle to get the prop even with the ground so you don't break the prop. P.S. hand launch left handed straight up at 3/4 throttle, and be prepared to pull right quickly
