The latest information we have from FMS is that the first scheme will be the yellow and black P-39Q "Cobra II" piloted by Tex Johnston which won the 1947 Thompson Racing Trophy. With factories currently on Chinese New Year, plus production time throughout March and shipping times throughout April, the aircraft is currently projected for a May 2015 release. A military scheme is likely as a follow up.

I have test flown the prototype FMS 980mm P-39 extensively, and it is very fun to fly. Well mannered, stable on landing, and very unique at the field and in the air. The yellow and black racer scheme greatly aids in orientation for this fast racer. Most P-39s deployed in WWII had three bladed props. FMS is modeled the -Q's four bladed prop, which puts the P-39 into the 90-100mph range.

Hi Alpha, thanks for the heads up.  Wasn't the best news I wanted to hear, was hoping for the military version.  I've spoken to you on the phone a couple of times and I think I might have mentioned that the P-39 was my favorite war plane of all time, and I had built a few of the Top Flite kits back in the 70's and 80's, modified with Rom Air retracts and split flaps.  They were a joy to build and fly.  It's only within the last couple of years that I have gotten back into the hobby and am really impressed with the foam models and electric motors, and have bean waiting and wishing for a P-39 model to come along.  Anyway, I will be looking forward to the military version.  Thanks again

Hi roofman I to have been waiting for a p-39 or p-63 to roll out from someone. Must say they make a great addition and cool flying aircraft. Like military color also,just waiting.

We've been asking FMS to make a P-39 for the last 18 months. We're glad they are finally doing it. We asked FMS for a military version for the FMS line and the "Cobra II" version for the RocHobby line about a year ago. We sent a bunch of pictures of liveries to start the project off. FMS decided to do the RocHobby version only. I don't know of any current plans to do a military version but we will continue to ask for it. Ideally we would love a 1400mm military version.

We asked FMS for a military version for the FMS line and the "Cobra II" version for the RocHobby line about a year ago. We sent a bunch of pictures of liveries to start the project off. FMS decided to do the RocHobby version only. I don't know of any current plans to do a military version but we will continue to ask for it. Ideally we would love a 1400mm military version.

Hello Tom,
I would be so back into infatuation with FMS if they did pump it out in a 1400 size especially after they just recently discontined 4 of the staple WW2 airframes from that size. I have the VQ P-39 which is alright, but I want an FMS military one decked out with flaps and retracks so bad that I actually had a dream about it. Now that is obsessive and I need a cure!!!! I have faith that you guys can get them to listen.

The 1400 would be great in any military scheme.  Please keep on them to put one out.  Thanks
