Apprentice with DX8 2nd gen

Hey guys, anyone flying an Apprentice with the DX 8 2nd gen?
Just curious if the setup between 1st nd 2nd is any different.
One of our brand spanking new members, Ron, has this and I'm guiding him through the newbie stage.
I know with our, I use a DX5 and the setup works fine, but his, although it flew ok, seemed to not get out of primary mode even though he set it up according to the manual.
Now, being brand new to it, he may have misunderstood a few things, but I thought I'd put this out there and see what you guys think.
I've got him coming over to Hobbysquawk pretty quickly as well.

Double check control throw directions...

When our club trainer (older Apprentice) was crashed and replaced with a new one, the guy who did the test flight just bound to the model used by the old (assumed all settings would be the same) and then took off. And, the ailerons were reversed.

Never assume it will be the same.

I'm going to have him come over next weekend and we'll run through the settings, it's like it doesn't switch out of primary mode.
Had ours up as well today and never realized how unsensitive the ailerons were, so I fixed that. Haven't really flown her a lot as its the wife's plane.
