  • P-39 High Speed

Ok this one is on my list. I'll buy when it becomes available. Love the P-47 and can only think how much better the P39 will fly. Pointier nose and what looks like a larger rudder. The only down side I see compared to the P47 is the added weight of the nose gear. But the nose gear will help greatly on the ground. So the only real issue is the huge hole up front for the front gear. Any hope of the actual production model having a door to cover up this gaping hole?

I finally saw one of the FMS P-39's. It was at the local hobby shop and had been special ordered for one of the customers.

I was there when the new owner showed up to collect it, so I got to see first hand the unboxing of the plane.  Wings and fuselage look good, however I was surprised to see that the front wheel on the nose gear landing strut was damaged.

I noticed that there were some pics on the RC Groups site of damaged nose gear wheels, seems to be a hit and miss item. The owner of the hobby shop gave him a set of tires off one of the 800 series planes and they look to be a perfect fit. Wheel itself is a bit different but the tire is the right size.
