  • Old Crow P-51D with sound

Received my Old Crow P-51 Mustang yesterday the build was pretty easy.  The sound calibration went well thanks to the videos and the gear sequencer also went well thanks to the videos.  My only gripe was the servos wires for the flaps and ailerons were much to short luckily I had some extensions and I was also short 1 Y connector the room for the wiring is not sufficient its a mess of wires with very limited room. As far as the plane is concerned it's beautiful can't wait to fly her. Will let you know how the maiden flight goes :D

I here ya, I have a mess of wires in mine as well!! I want to put a gyro in but just the though of rearranging everything gives me a headache lol. Just an FYI with the Freewing sound system I've noticed is that the aluminum heat sink bracket the amplifier board is attached to gets very hot. I would try to keep any wires from touching it especially when you are just on the ground just running the sound with no prop wash cooling it.

that's interesting as I was missing a Y cord with mine as well, fortunately, I had a spare.  Just ordered some A3L's and one is going into Old  Crow.  I have my receiver sitting just aft of the battery, stuck vertically to the side of the fuselage.  I'm thinking of putting the gyro right across from it, although I have to check to see if its acceptable to sit the gyro in its side.  If not, I'm thinking of the very end of the wooden battery tray (as close to the CG as I can), but yeah I agree, its a tight fit.  I believe Retired has the Freewing gyro attached to the top of the battery access hatch, which I was thinking would be great, but MotionRC hasn't any in stock.

Gman, I just put an A3-L in mine today and I stacked the sequencer and led on top of each other and put the gyro directly on the wing over the CG between wing haves with the 3m tape it comes with and some low temp hot glue. I tried it tonight and it made a big improvement for the wind and definitely helps with take offs and landings. I attached a photo if you can see thru all the mess lol. I am not sure if you can put it on its side though? but that would def help fitting issues. I thought of putting on wooden battery tray but with my freewing sound system it wasn't an option for me but may work for you since you have more space there.

Hey, way cool Adker!  I'm wondering if I couldn't get away with putting the A3L right where you have your receiver as well, definitely food for thought.  Amazing how there are so many solutions to the same question, thank God for the forum!!!  Thanks again!

Hello Pilots I also installed my AR636 AS3X under the lip at the front of the cockpit it fits there perfectly. I like using the spektrum just easier to install 1 unit especially in a plane where room is a premium. Still haven't had a chance to fly yet seems like I'm at work when the weather is cooperating maybe this weekend!!!

I have one of those in my drawer.  I was thinking of putting it in the Waco for the same reasons.  I get crossed up in the instructions !!!
