  • Two Versions Of Pandora?

I decided to rebuild my Pandora just to freshen it all up again so I ordered a new fuselage. Things were going well until I went to mount the rudder servo and it fell right through the cut out in the wood mounting board. Huh?? Sure enough, the cutout was much larger than the 9g servo mine came with. A quick check of parts on Motion showed a 17g servo listed as a part. Now I don't think my original Pandora came with any 17g servos soooooo I am assuming that there are two versions of the Pandora out there? Anyways, I've ordered the 17g servo and am hoping it is the one this new larger cutout in the board is made for. I know several of you have had multiple Pandoras and I was wondering if I am correct in assuming that the 17g servo goes in there?

There were no replies on this so I am assuming I must be one of the first to have this issue. That being said, I did order the 17g servo (link below) and that is indeed what fits into the new version of the Pandora. So, if you have a Pandora that has equal sized cutouts in the wood servo tray and order a new fuselage, make sure to also order this servo for the rudder.

It must be an upgrade, to help counter the forces created by the nose wheel in trike configuration. Good to see they heard about this.

News to me as well!  I'll have to check as one is slightly newer than the other, a few months, but you never know.

You'd know GMan.... The standard 9g servo just falls through the larger mounting hole in the servo tray. It was actually kind of comical because I didn't notice. I grabbed the 9g servo stuck it in the hole and plunk, it fell through to the bottom of the fuselage. ;-)

No, mine have two 9g servos as well.  I wonder when that happened?  It'll be interesting to see how it compares, being a stronger servo, I could see it making a difference in the trike configuration.

Woops!  Should not have mentioned the 'S' word!!  What happens today?  My rudder servo in Pandora one packs it in.  At least I have a heads up on what to expect.  A little cutting I assume

I was just wondering if the rudder servos also stripped when just using a tail wheel and so now I guess they do... ;) Well, we'll see if this bigger servo does better. I'd rather see a 9g MG servo myself.

I had a hard landing, although I didn't think it was all that hard, but broke a prop and scraped some paint, but after that there was the noise coming out of the servo, so why chance it?
Anyway, got the new one today, out with the dremel tool and enlarged the hole slightly, and put her in.  Works great!
All ready for the air, now they're talking about snow??!!

Odd year for weather, right? Here near the center, we're getting late June, early July weather. Trouble is, it comes with a lot of wind. :(

It is an odd year for sure! We usually have a windy spring but that is lasting kind of late this year. Hope it calms down for you WintrSol!

Ain't odd for Wyoming.  We can have a 70 degree day one day and snow the next, I've seen it, this spring and last.
For a guy who was used to Summer and rainy season, it takes some getting used to.
