  • FMS Pitts?

Will there be any more FMS Pitts stock coming in?  I hear that they are stopping production, such a shame, I'd like to get one

yeah too bad, that's why I'm wondering if we've already had our last kick at the can or whether they'll be getting more in.  I'd like to do one up in Dave's colors.

      That would be cool.
I see Diamond Hobby still has them at $349.99, I'll see what Motion comes up with

        Greetings GMan,

I think they will be around in stock for a while.

It's a big bipe and tough to transport for a lot of folks.

The required $100.00+ batteries for it doesn't help either.

yeah, there's a point.  I saw the whopping big battery she takes!

This is one I'm going to ease into for sure, Probably sit for a while as I have so many planes to fly.  Its just that one day, there won't be any available and I'll be kicking myself.

            Greetings,

            Good Point.

I didn't even realize that MRC was out of them!!
            I don't think they plan to re-stock.

Did they say they could/would get more??

haven't heard that the were or were not getting any more.  You'd think they would have placed them in the 'discontinued' column.
I'll see what Ryan can find out

Well, they've been in the discount section for quite some time.

                      RE: FMS Pitts?

Sorry, I missed this post. We have them back in stock. I love this plane as do many others. We will order it as long as FMS continues to make it. We asked for a new and proper color scheme and even lined up the owner of a famous Pitts biplane who was willing to license the color scheme at $0 and help us get all the details right. At first FMS was on board but then they changed their mind and decided to discontinue the plane.

Thanks Tom, mines on its way.  Such a shame, any reason given for discontinuation?  You'd think with a new, hot color scheme it would be the way to go......

                          RE: FMS Pitts?

FMS cited the need to sell 500 world wide in order to justify the production. They are at less than 1/2 of that target. I would think a proper color scheme and price would allow them to hit their target and we had them on board for a while and then something changed - not sure what but I have my thoughts which I can't share because they are educated guesses at best.

That is a point of interest.

Perhaps it could be offered in solid white and just let folks do with it what they will??

Well, she's all ready for flight, decided to get an A3L for her as well, these gyros are great!, have them in everything except the Pitts and the Waco, the Waco being a real tight fit to get one into

Hello Grossman, glad to hear she's ready to go. Will you be getting footage of the maiden? I got the Pitts a couple of months ago but haven't maidened yet. I have a long list of maidens to do, and this one is coming up soon. Just not much flight time available lately.

Hope it goes well, and hope we get to see some coverage of it!

Hey Sky Wolf, I hear you there.  We've had some poor flying conditions, mostly wind here in Wyoming.  I managed to maiden my FMS P51D and put seven flights on her, I was waiting for some parts for the Pitts and the Freewing Mustang.  Now, they're set to go whenever the weather gets better, hopefully Saturday morning.  I have an A3L coming for the Pitts, so I may delay it until I get it here, I just love the response the gyro gives to the controls.   I have one in all my planes except the trainers and the Waco.

So., we'll see how the weather god feels!

That sounds awesome. I may follow your lead on putting a gyro on the Pitts. I've never flown with a gyro before. With the Pitts going out of production though, it may be good insurance. I watched Ryan's overview video of the Gyro. and it seems like it's not too hard to set up. I just don't want to screw up something and make it crash trying to use the gyro.
I watched a pilot crash a brand new Extra 300 because the gyro sent it into craziness right at takeoff. I've been scared of them sense then.

With my Carbon Z Cub, I turned the gains off because I was afraid of it. I relied more on my flying skills than trusting in the gyro.

I think I'll give it a go though in the Pitts. Hope you get to fly Saturday. I'm in Jamaica this weekend, but did bring the Phantom 2+. I just have to fly something!
