I swore off ultra micros after a few very disappointing try's with a few of them. This one got my interest back up. Does anyone have one and what do you think about it.

Hi Farmflyer-I do have this one and so far I have been very happy with it. I bought it for our Micro Modeler's Club meetings, and it will fly inside our enclosed area, but I would not say it is a beginner style plane either. It is much happier flying outside in calm conditions, or winds 5mph or less. It has good power, and is very visible, but like any micro, they are fragile, so I suspect if you did crash it, there will be some repair required. With the AS3X, it is pretty stable, and easy to land. The one thing I have found that it really isn't happy doing is barrel rolls. It will do them, but make sure you have a lot of altitude and be ready with down elevator during the roll, or it will drop 20' or more very quickly before it completes the roll. Loops, stalls, even inverted are pretty easy with this one.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks Loneflier the others I've had barely have enough power to stay in the air doing flat circuits. The um spitfire being the worst. I take that back the Flyzone dr1 was the worst it had good power just couldn't keep it flying when you turned it you could barely get it back up right it was like it was way top heavy. It's a shelf display with my spit and p40. This may entice me to try the pt17 I love biplanes especially this color scheme stearman. I may have to get the bigger one also they would make a nice pair.

You're most welcome Farmflyer. I actually do have both the FMS 1100 size and this UMX. Both easy to fly, but for some reason, my FMS PT-17 came with a 30amp ESC instead of the advertised 35amp ESC. The 30amp just isn't big enough and it gets very hot to the point where it reduces power after just a couple of minutes flying time. I have ordered a larger ESC to replace it, hopefully that will fix the problem.

I also have the UM Spitfire and the Flyzone DR-1 you mentioned. The DR-1 flies OK, but will not tolerate any wind at all, and like most of the small FZ planes, the gearbox is very noisy. However, inside the building where we fly the micro size planes, it actually does pretty well. Have not tried the Spit inside. It is too quick for that area, but flies well outside as long as there is no real wind to speak of.

        Good luck to you!
