WOW! A Carbon - Z T-28 ???

Greetings Gang,

What can I say...... I did not see this one on the Horizon (punn intended)!!!!!

It looks like the next big wave is going to be big 6-Cell machines!!! Like it or not.....

With a 78" wing span (1981mm) this baby is HUGE!! Retracts and Flaps installed too!

The price is off the charts for a BNF foamie and almost $200.00 more than the BNF 84" Carbon Z Cub (not sure if retracts are worth the price difference) but, it is a T-28 and you know it will be a great flyer!!!

This is another case where it would be necessary (at least for me) to offset the cost of 6-Cell power requirements.
I can get 4 3-cell Lipos and run them in series for close to the cost of 1 6-cell. Plus I'd get 2 flights instead of 1 and I could double the benefits of the 3-cell LiPos by being able to run them in other aircraft!!!

So let's reflect, the T-28 is now available in 800mm (2-cell), 1100mm (3-cell), 1200mm (3-cell), 1400mm (4-cell) and 1981mm (6-cell) foamies!!!

Man, they just keep making these decisions harder and harder...... or is it, easier and easier?????

Indeed, as much as I like the T-28 I'm afraid that I'm just not a $600.00 plane guy!!!
Especially a foamie!!

I think it's a great idea but I also think they priced this bad boy not to sell  (at least in quantity).

A shame really. If they would have priced it more like the bigger 84" Cub they might have had a winner.

I would be interested to see how many are pre-ordered.

Well I damn near messed my bloody knickers mate(naw....just messin with ya bud) when you put this one out there. As I was waiting for the Horizon page to load up so that I could check this out my mind started thinking how sweet this was gonna be but when the 3 min video was done it was a NOT.
At that price and Eflite couldn't even do functioning oleo's?? And another big eyesore, I have yet to see a Trojan with a 2 blade prop in full scale.
Sorry E-flite but those 2 shortcuts just turned me off. Am just gonna keep flying my 1400 and hoping that the strut upgrade comes to fruition.

Well it is a big surprise to me, too large, too big a battery - super expensive, plane is too expensive for a foamy with cheaper quality retracts, too many T-28's already.

Now I will not have an excuse to by the HK P-40 when it is released

With that two blade prop it looks like a Parkzone T-28 on steroids!!
Probably all they did was upscale the original PZ drawings.
For that kind of price I would have expected at least a sound card in it.


I think those with extra cash to burn will  grab one just cause it's so big.
But unless the price point gets a bit more realistic lots will remain on the shelf.

I'll stick with the 1400mm as well.

I have to agree too. When I first saw it, I thought I had to have it, but then I saw the price and that kind of brought me back to reality. Just can't afford a 500.00 plus plane right now, and that doesn't include batteries. Still, I will be very interested to see one, and hopefully watch one fly as well. I am sure they did their homework well and it will be a great flying plane.

On the bright side, they are bringing out a nice UMX F-16 with the AS3X that is priced well. If it flies as well as the Habu, I will be getting that one!

I too was in awe at first glance. But then I saw that 2-blade prop and also thought it looked just like the ParkZone version. Having the cheap looking gear was an immediate eye soar.

I actually saw the price first and thought to myself, "this thing must be awesome in features!" But then it went down hill from there the more I looked at it.

What an opportunity they missed with that price point. They really should take that one back to the drawing board and the "think tank", then reissue it. I wonder who their test marketers were that said this was good?

I'm happy with the Pz t28 flies well very tough and the right size for an aileron trainer which is all a t28 really is. If I were to consider a $600 plane it would have to be a lot more exciting than a t28. Oh yea you plus $100 batteries.

I agree, the T-28 has probably served many an RC Pilot well as their 1st or 2nd aileron flier.

It is a real tried and true airplane and they practically last forever.

Considering Horizon's pattern I suppose we should prepare for the inevitable Carbon Z Mustang or Carbon Z P-47!!!!

Yeah, I believe you're exactly right.

A shame, really. If they had just place it at a more appropriate price point it might have helped tremendously.

Hopefully, it will eventually come down.

Yeah, I saw that huge Carbon Z at my LHS this weekend... HobbyTown no less... So, they must be selling if they have it. The box alone took up almost an entire shelf!! Lol

ok, so they sell a few hundred at $500+ a pop....
If they would have priced it at $379pnp-$399bnf like the Carbon Z Cub - which is even bigger, the shelves would likely already be depleted....

interesting how we all had the same reaction!  I was in awe of the size at first as well, but the attention to detail really is lacking, check out the cockpit for instance.  So, by the time you replace the retracts for the fourth or fifth time, I'm sure the novelty wears off.
I too could not justify the cost plus batteries plus maintenance.  I'd like to see one fly, but not out of my stable.  Give me the FMS 1400 P40B instead

only prob I have with this plane is the vt-cz for the scrodern ...how hard would it have been to say make it vt-3 or 2 or 6? all they have to do is make a 3 w or 2 e etc to make it more scale...I worked on these t28's for 4 years in the navy and just like accuracy in scale planes....
