    Not a Trainer

This is the Flyzone Mini Switch  the very first plane I bought . Its a high to low wing that is sold as a Trainer plane . It is not a trainer ! This is too fast and twitchy to be a first plane trainer . But it is fun . Needless to say after about five crashes of trying to get it in the air I went to a Pandora

A Twitchy Switchy is really bad news.
Making the switch from a Switchy to a Pandora will be a twitchy free experience.

not to twitch the subject, but is it twitchy in the ailerons or the elevator or the rudder twitch do you refer?

                Bryan,

I'll bet you regret mentioning a twitchy Switch in the same sentence. Just don't make the Pandora to twitchy.

One of the fellows at the club has a very small Piper Cub, maybe 12" wingspan.  To watch him fly it is exhausting, especially in a breeze.  Like watching a hummingbird, not for me!!

Hi everyone just wanted to give my opinion on the Pandora, I too watch people struggle with the smaller planes trying to fight off the wind and fly with some kind of control they seem to be getting nowhere with there training. I say give them a high wing Pandora with a stabilizer and let them get in the air and have some fun then they can hone there skills. Nothing worse then seeing the face of a new pilot looking down at his wrecked little bird. The Pandora was a savior for me,went from crashing and repairing to flying and having a ball Can't say enough about the Pandora, our club now uses 2 of them for training Thanks

Pandora all the way, especially with the A3L, we're going to get Bryan to break down and try one yet!

Not to use the S&T words to upset you guys, but I totally agree. Me being a student beginner still I've learned that the smaller they are the more you want enjoy it for the fear of crashing. Hippie, I know you say crashing is landing which it is in a bad way, I learned the hard way and now know that if there is the least bit of wind don't pull out small bird unless you want to pull out the glue to. I have enjoyed flying the Sport Cub S, but if there is any wind she don't want to fly well and I end up talking ugly and don't enjoy my time with it in the air. I have a Pandora and yes I love it.
                              Still Learning:D

Actually, Hippie does have a Pandora as well, to be fair.
I owe a lot to my two Pandoras, they got my skill level up to where the Mustangs and the Pitts were not huge obstacles to overcome, just a little more power.
They also got my painting skill up as well, they're fun to repaint.  Does anyone besides Lauren still have one in stock colors??

Yep mine is still stock. I bought one to train my 13 y/o son. He took to it right away! Its a great plane! I wish I had it when I started flying. This summer we're going to try to work him up into the Dallas Doll.
Its so much fun chasing each other around in the sky :D

Cool Cap' they are a great training tool, I'm sure we can all remember the first successful flight with our Pandoras.  Both mine have been piled up and P-1 was on fire.  hey still fly great.  P-1 has new wings and P-2 has P-1's original wings.  P-2's wings could have been repaired but as I bought new wings for the stars and stripes paint job, it was easier to swap wings out.

I sort of cheated on Pandora Two as well. got some black stock decal sheets from Motion and cut out the scalloping by hand. I used a fixed sized circle aka paint can and traced them out either side of a decal sheet which was measured to a fixed width. Got busy with the scissors and cut the half circles out. Then got the bright idea of using the cut out pieces on the trailing edge. The only thing missing is the Hornet Logo, which I found on the net and simply printed on a piece of clear decal paper. It was a lot of fun and she looks sharp!! Can't wait to see her in the air !!
