  • Who says lightning doesn't strike twice? HSD 1600MM A-1 Kits Back in Stock!!

I was surfing my regular sites today and discovered a minor miracle. HSD has the 1600mm Douglas A-1 kits back in stock. This is a kit only, you will have to complete it. But if you have been wanting one of these extraordinary models, there it is. This is one of my favorite planes. But there has been a bit of a new development. Now Motion RC, has a nice set of 1600mm rotating retracts that fit like a glove. As a matter of fact, I bet you could use the whole drive train out of one of the New Flightline Corsair, and plug it right into this air frame.

I am building one of these kits right now, it's quality is second to none. Beautiful in every way. I'm also using almost all my components purchased from MRC to do it.

Trying to find a stocking source for that big fat 4 bladed beauty of a 16" one piece prop is still the major dilemma.:(

Yes it is Charley. I hoping they have stock coming. I bought mine almost a year ago, (My Kit) Peat said that HSD didn't own the molds, and he thought it was going to disappear into model oblivion. But there they are. I only got one prop with my kit, it's a pretty nice prop. Single piece 4 blade. I got a notice about a week ago from HSD. Said the props were coming.

I originally purchased a set of E-flight Corsair retracts to put in it. But I may spring for the Motions new Flightline retracts. Also the retractable tail wheel I bought from FMS is all plastic. So I may use the Corsair tail wheel too. Going to take a hard look at it. I would think the new Corsair ESC & Motor would be perfect for this build. Just guessing though, haven't check it out.

Yes these props can be a problem. Gonna look around for a Sub. This is a personal favorite of mine Charley. Had a good friend that had one when I was a kid, (teen ager). We flew it all over the place, but mostly to the Corona Ca. Grass field at the airport there. They had a great little restraint we taxied right up too and had breakfast. Then flew home.

          Best Regards

PS it's a really beautiful kit, worth building out if you like these. Come flight time I might try to find a 2 or 3 bladed replacement for flying. But if you fly it with that big prop, it has a sound all it's own. W
