  • Dynam C-188 Maiden with Raiden FPV Canard Video

Finally got a chance to fly after 6 weeks of bad weather and/or busy weekends. Took my new Dynam C-188 out for its maiden flight. I bought this plane off the scratch and dent pile here at Motion. It had been returned because the tail wheel horn had excess glue on it and wouldn't turn. The warehouse guys fixed it nicely by cutting into the rear fuselage, removing the excess glue and then covering the surgery area with Monokote. The only problem I had was the horn on one of the aileron servos was not centered so I had to use a thin Phillips screwdriver to angle in and remove and reattach the horn to get it in the correct spot. It messed the wing up a bit but it's not very noticeable. I had read about people having CG problems and having to add weight because the plane was too tail heavy at the published CG location so I opted to use Admiral 4s 2500mah batteries instead of the recommended 4s 2200mah battery. The 2500mah battery still fits snugly into the battery compartment and puts the CG in the perfect spot for a nice flying experience while increasing flight time. This approach worked out very well! The plane flew great! The landing? Not so great... LOL! My bad...! The second half of the video is my friend Tom's FPV Raiden canard which is scratch built out of Dollar Tree foam board. It's an interesting project that is super stable, something I was not expecting given the shape of the plane. A nice fall flying day... :)

Good job Lauren. :D That flying site has lots of potential plane eaters and you did a great job. I have to cut ya some slack on the landing cause I did basically the same thing on my FW P-51 Iron Ass.....I blamed it on bad depth perception

Ha! Plane eaters!! Love that Steve!! And yes it does... Those poles are lots of fun if you're doing FPV and a slalom but a real pain flying LOS. Thanks for the slack but I did stall it and also missed the road by about 6 feet. LOL! But hey, I'll take a no dents or dings maiden any day ya know?? ;) I'm just happy I got a day in before (ugh) winter sets in. Thanks for looking at it Steve!
