  • T-28 Replacement?

I was just chatting with a support person on the Motion RC site and he seemed to be under the impression that they would not be selling the eflight or the fms t-28 any longer.
With all the T-28's disappearing from Motion what is the recommended warbird trainer now.

I recommend the Dynam T-28. I've owned 3 of them.

New v2 version comes with bigger ESC, (and flaps although you don't need them).

It takes a little bit of work to make them right but once you do they are the best flying T28. Light wing loading.

Retracts will need upgrading sooner or later.

How is the performance on the v2. Its hard to gauge but from what I have heard and a couple youtube videos it looks really docile, maybe a little underpowered? Im not very familiar with the Dynam brand.

I agree, on 3s it IS pretty docile. I fly mine on 4S with an APC 12X8 2 blade prop.

It really wakes up the plane, its as fast or faster then any stock T28 out there..

The stock motor can handle it. You need to upgrade the ESC. Ive flown this combo with a 50 amp many times.

The v1 version only had a 30 amp ESC so I upgraded to the 50 amp.

The v2 version now comes with a 40 amp so it may work with the stock ESC and you wouldnt have to upgrade, I haven't tried it myself with the 40 amp.

I also have a Dynam T-28 and it has been a great warbird trainer. The 3S set up is perfect to start training with. Once I got more comfortable with the plane I upgraded the ESC with a 45amp so I can run 4S and 3S batteries.
Flying on 4S really does improve power, it is almost like flying a different airplane.
I mostly use flaps on take off which really do help achieve a shorter take off. The main things I recommend upgrading is the wheels for ones with softer tires to cushion the impact on the landing gear on landings. The nose gear strut bends easily on hard landings. I have had to straighten it out several times.. So I would recommend upgrading the nose gear with a trailing link setup to help absorb impacts.

The eflight at6 is another good trainer warbird.
