    Can anyone tell me the setup parameters for this plane. Throws rates and expo. Apparently the Chinese don't think its critical to give you these in the instructions. I'm used to RTF so this is one of my few attempts at setting things up. I would hate to have this beautiful bird take a dirt nap her first time out. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    When I assemble a model that has no throw info, I always start with the control rods at the hole farthest from the control surface hinge, and the hole closest the center of the servo arm. That way you're sure not to have over-control problems. If it feels like there is too little control, I begin moving the rods, a step at a time, until the model handles crisply enough for me. Expo is a personal preference; I use it because my fingers have a tendency to twitch a little, and I don't need the model to jump around on landing. You may want to start with the same settings you have for another model that is similar in size, and adjust from there.

        Setting up dual rates is not a bad idea. That way if you need to you can either flip to more or less deflection. With the B17 you definitely don't want to slam her around. Changing attitudes to quickly is like slamming on the brakes. Manage your speed and keep it smooth. For me on maidens on a plane without much in the way of throw recommendations I'll go with 100 percent high and 70 low with 20-30 expo just to start. I usually go for the outer holes on surface and servo. Every now and then you'll get servos that throw 3D style deflection. In those cases my high rate will definitely not be 100 percent.

          I choose a different approach to lack of throw info:

          I adjust the throws for appx 25 deg each way from center, then program in 30% to 60% expo depending on how large the control surfaces are compared to the fixed surface. Larger moving compared to fixed gets more expo

          Then you have all the potential control throw you may need, (any more than 30 deg you are generally adding mostly drag, except in "3D" near stall aerobatics) and the expo makes the center less sensitive.
