With these models (low perfoance) scale type I've found that a gyro on the rudder was about all that I'd even think about. This is to tame the ground loop with the narrow track gear. And then the gyro had better be a stick priority type.

That is what I was considering one for. Just landing and take off for the rudder. My Waco doesn't seem to be a problem unless a gusty cross wind has lifted up the wings a few times. Don't think I will get one but, just wanted to get some imput. Thanks

I only have one bite, but I love it. The Roc Hobby Beechcraft Staggerwing.

It's pretty docile, but will move out when you pin the throttle. It's super easy to see being bright red! I did paint the top 2" or so of both wings a light gray, to help with orientation. It's well built, has great detail, and will balance great with a 3S 2200 battery. It has flaps, lights and the coolest feature, retracts! It'll handle short grass, and is just a fun plane. I'll often take it out as the last plane to fly, along with a couple warbirds. It's such a fun relaxing plane to finish the day with...

Good luck on whatever you decide, but my vote is with the Staggerwing!

Ok I have a Waco (Dynam) that I knew the 1st time I flew it I found my calling LOL Anyway I would like to add another one to my little hanger but, not sure what I want next. Thinking about the Tigermoth ,Albatross, or another Waco and do a little customizing to it. Any ideas??? :)

Once I get proficient that is going to be the next aircraft I get I think. Love the look of the Waco. The dynam corsair is in the running too though.

Hi SFNinerFan. You won't be disappointed with the Dynam Waco. She's a fun flyer. Maneuverable, yet very predictable flight characteristics. And, Dynam has built a good sturdy airframe on this one. Only upgrade I'd suggest is to replace the slightly suspect Detrum ESC that it comes with. I replaced mine with a 45A Mantis on Motion's website.

I tend to agree, the Dynam Waco comes with great credentials. I personally don't own one, I have the RocHobby version, which is smaller and, well, to say the least, exciting to fly. The comments coming from the Dynam version have been consistently great, check with Warbird Charlie, he has one and he's great on airplane reviews.

I heartily recommend the Dynam WACO. I have three of the Dynam biplanes, the WACO, Tiger Moth and Albatros. I also have the Starmax PT-17 and the Hobbyking WACO SRE. Of those planes, the Dynam WACO is by far the best of the bunch. Mine has well over 300 flights on it and it is still going strong. The only issue I have had was the ESC died early, I replaced it with a 50 amp from my parts box and never looked back.

In fact, I like the Dynam WACO so much, I am working on a second, dressed as Jack Strayer's Pepsi Travel Air D4D.

I have wanted to get into bipes but have never flown one. How is the envelope compared to low wing planes? The only high wing I ever flew was the little Hobbyzone champ

Biplanes have a lot of lift, because you have twice the wing area, so take offs and landings IMO are generally easy. The flip side of that is, biplanes have a lot of drag, because they have twice the wing frontal area and associated support struts, so if you cut power, they generally slow down quickly.

Unless you are talking about a Pitts or other high powered bipe, I would say "most" biplanes fall between a high wing plane and warbird in flight characteristics. That's just my opinion of course, your mileage may vary.

But, I don't think anything looks as classy as a biplane in the air.

I'm with WV, every once in a while, when you're sick of the retracts and flaps, it's really great to strap on a Bipe and hit the air with nothing but a throttle, ailerons, rudder and elevator to worry about. My FMS Pitts was on sale for $309 when I picked it up last year when FMS was contemplating discontinuing the line. What a great plane, one of my favorites.

i picked up one of the dynam tigermoths... assembled it and dropped in a spectrum receiver... all the servos work but I'm getting a rapid beep from the ESC and zero throttle

any ideas?

Did you try reversing the throttle channel?

You'll have to pull your throttle trim full down. Worked for me. You may need to calibrate your throttle afterwards. Unplug your battery, turn your TX on, push the throttle stick full up, plug in the battery. You'll hear some beeps, then pull your throttle full down. You really should do this with the prop removed. Really fast beeps mean your battery isn't charged enough. Second thought... You should try calibrating your throttle first. If that doesn't work, pull your throttle trim down. Good luck! Doc

Ive been wanting to get the Prometheus ..fell in love with that plane on the flight sim, but Ive never flown a bipe ..so not sure if that would be a good choice for a first or not? have plenty of time with warbirds and jets..but these sound like a mixed ballgame ? what would you recommend for a first ?
