  • Eflite p-51 "blondie"

For those of you that have the new eflite p-51 blondie, how would you compare it to the Dallas doll? Quality, flying characteristics, reliability, etc

*edit* I already have the 1120mm Dallas doll. I was asking for my brother because he wants a p-51 around the same size as mine. As I expected it seems like no one has had any issues with the blondie so I think he's gonna buy one this spring/summer. I'll let you all know how it goes. Thanks for all the replies! If anyone else has anything to add to this thread please do!

      RE: Eflite p-51 "blondie"

There was another thread on this forum that compared the two, but I didn't find it after an admittedly quick search. Anyway, the upshot of it was that one of the MRC guys said that the 1.2m Blondie had a pull out battery tray and was in general a bit nicer plane than the Dallas Doll. In his opinion it was worth the extra 20 dollars. I have not flown either one, so I can't confirm, but given my choice, I would go for the larger one if I was buying one.

I already have the dallas doll but my brother is wanting a p-51 around the same size as mine. He's going to get it this spring and I'll let you guys know how it goes. Looks like a nice plane.

I have the Dallas Doll. I love the way it performs, except it could use a little more power. Rather than buy the Blondy ( only a couple of inches longer W.S. and the same motor but a 40 Amp ESC) I just bought the E-Flite 40 Amp ESC to put in my Dallas Doll. It, hopefully, will make a good deal of difference in power. By the way, My first wife was a Dallas Doll and we are still friends! Doc

I've flown both models and they're vastly different. The Dallas Dolls is bigger, uses a larger battery, has lights, fully sequenced gear doors, metal shock-absorbing struts... Blondie is a fantastic plane as well for the money, but side by side they offer two different experiences, neither better than the other in any significant way in my opinion. Personal preference rules the day.

That's not the same dallas doll, I meant the 1120mm from eflite

Ah you're correct! Dallas Darling and Dallas Doll. The Darling is FMS' 1400mm, the Doll is Eflite's 1120mm. Blondie is Eflite's 1200mm. So many Mustangs :)

The 1200mm Blondie versus the 1120mm Dallas Doll is a much closer comparison. I prefer the Blondie's handling mostly due to its slightly larger size, and it's a perfect size to transport easily without getting too large. Although, I must say I prefer the Doll's yellow color scheme.

Eflite planes are stellar, your brother will be happy I'm sure. Post pictures of the two of you flying, that would be neat to see!

I will when I get the chance! Might be a while though, the weather here in Iowa has been really cold lately.

I forgot my mom took this pic last summer. We set up a buddy box with my eflite p-51. This was my brother's first time flying a warbird.
