  • Official Announcement: FlightLine 1100mm LA-7

Motion RC is proud to announce FlightLineRC, a new brand of warbirds developed in partnership with Freewing Models. Freewing has established itself as a premier manufacturer in the electric RC market with their scale jets and quality warbirds. MotionRC has been deeply involved with many of Freewing's releases over the past two years, and FlightLineRC brand takes that partnership to a new level. FlightLine will produce warbirds in various sizes, updating past aircraft we all know and love, and also bringing new aircraft which have never been mass-produced in the foam electric format. FlightLine is committed to providing a wide range of spare parts in stock at Motion RC to keep you flying. Say goodbye to waiting months for unavailable spares! FlightLine's first single engine entry is an 1100mm model of the famous but rarely modeled Lavochikin La-7!

The Lavochkin La-7 was considered by many pilots to be one of the best fighters of World War II. The aircraft was superior to the famed Bf-109G in vertical performance and maneuverability, and the La-7’s speed allowed it to defend the Soviet frontlines from bomber attacks. Over 5,700 aircraft were built as the La-7 earned its place in aviation history. The Soviet’s top scoring ace, Ivan Kozhedub, piloted his La-7 “White 27” to over 60 aerial victories.

FlightLineRC’s 1:9 scale flying replica of the La-7 uses EPO foam and a fiberglass reinforced one piece wing to offer pilots excellent performance at a great value. A large equipment cabin gives generous access to the ESC, receiver, and battery compartment. Screws attach the wing and horizontal stabilizer. Scale details such as the three bladed propeller and split flaps enhance the model’s realism. Decal sheets are included inside the box which allow pilots to choose from four different final liveries, flown by different Russian Aces and pilots during World War II.

The La-7’s 1100mm wingspan makes the aircraft easy to transport and gives it excellent maneuverability at a wide speed range. Its tall 65mm wheels and wide stance allow takeoff/landing on short, dry grass. The pre-installed 3647 brushless outrunner motor and recommended 4S 14.8v battery can achieve 135kph/83mph level speed with the scale three-blade propeller. An optional Sport Power System (sold separately) can be purchased to achieve 155kph/96mph speeds on the same 4s 14.8v battery. This Sport Power System includes: 3648-880kV motor, 12x8 2 blade propeller, and 2 bladed spinner. This Sport Power System is suitable for all 1100-1200mm wingspan warbirds from the FlightLineRC brand.

The La-7 is now available for pre-order and is estimated to arrive in less than three weeks!

For any questions, ask here and our team will do our best to answer you. Over the coming weeks we will be posting Assembly Videos, Setup Tips, and Flight Review Videos of both the stock PNP aircraft and the high performance Sport Power System set. Stay tuned and thanks for your support for Motion RC and FlightLineRC!

You'll love it, Ryan. It's very agile and stable, the perfect balance between a quick Saturday buzzer and a lazy Sunday *****cat. It flies a lot like your FMS 980mm P-40B, just bigger. The La-7's wide gear stance and forward rake make landings on grass much more manageable comparatively, and its retract unit is very robust.

Fun flying today with the Flightline 1100mm La-7. For those asking about its size, here is a comparison with the Eflite 1170mm P-51 "Dallas Doll". The Dallas Doll is about 1:10 scale, and the La-7 is about 1:8 scale. Note the La-7's taller wheels and wider stance than the P-51, which gives the La-7 a slight advantage on grass surfaces.

I can't quit looking at it. Flying this will be a treat. I'm like a kid at Christmas. What a unique plane choice for Motion RC models. This is one that you just have to try. Never had an LA7 on my RC bucket list, but this I can't resist.

For anyone reading this who is in the Southern California area, there is a scale fun fly event at Apollo field on Sunday Feb 13. I'll be there with all three Flightline aircraft giving free test drives. Come over and say hello to the guy with a parade of airplanes and swarms of questioners. :)

The La-7 goes together very easily. Here's an assembly video we put together. It's a bit boring, but most of it is presented in real time to give a sense of just how little time is needed to go from the box to the air:

Fun flying today at the airfield. My good friend Tony took the Flightline LA-7 out for two flights and we caught a few stills in between video.

It's so nice to bring something new to the airfield that no one has seen before. The big red Soviet stars sure stand out among the crowd!

Shirty, It's great to see you on HS. I'm feeling awesome my friend...thanks for asking. :)

Needless to say, you already know from posts on other threads that these Flightline RC birds are impressive. I absolutely love the P-38 and though I'm not a huge Russian aircraft guy, the LA-7 is unique and has great performance. After flying the 7 yesterday for the first time, I found it to be pitch sensitive but I think with a refined set up, I will be a great flyer. The P-38 is just a pure joy to fly, recommend power on landings, especially without flaps deployed. As those three bladed props spool down, they become speed brakes. ;)

                                      Have fun,
                                      Tony

Awesome. Cheers mate. The p38 is a must have, just waiting to see it available on my side of the world. (Credit card has been waiting patiently lol). I'm hoping the la7 will be made in a bigger size, so holding out on that one. I like the Russian birds for something different. Glad to hear you are all better now mate. :)
