  • P38 esc calibration

Was wanting the flight line p38 build video in the wireing section it said to separate the throttle wired during esc calibration, is there any more info on how to do this? Is it something that needs to be done?

Throttle calibration should be done with any and every new electric plane once. This is so the ESC knows what zero throttle and max throttle is on the TX stick. Since the P-38 uses two ESCs and two batteries (one for each), you need to calibrate each one separately OR, if you can plug both batteries in at the same time, you can calibrate both together.
The process involves having the TX on and with the throttle stick at max (throttle trim should be clicked as low as it will go and kept there for electric planes), then plug in the plane battery (or batteries if you can do it at the same time - get a second pair of hands) with only that ESC throttle lead plugged into the RX. As soon as you hear the first tones, immediately lower the throttle stick to the bottom and then you’ll hear the usual start up tones. Now that ESC knows the throttle range. Unpower everything. Now you can plug in the second throttle lead and repeat. Now both ESCs are calibrated. If you can plug both batteries simultaneously, you can leave both throttle leads “Y’d” together as you’ll hear the tones from both ESCs together. If you miss the tones, don’t move the stick. Just unplug the battery and start over. If you wait too long and hear a second set of tones, you’ve entered programming mode. That’s when you should not move the stick and just disconnect and start over again.
