  • Corona Build 1/4 Scale BUSA SE5A

I've had this kit for years and since I have the time I figured I'd get it done.

Good to see some kit building going on. Looking good.

I've got a BUSA Taube 90 and a Hostetler 1/4 scale Waco waiting for bench space to open up.

Beautiful work, Mike! Nice cockpit details. Is the engine a four stroke?

            Thanks

Did a bit of sheeting. I'm trying to figure out servo placement before I go to far. I'd like to do pull /pull on the elevator and rudder. Think I need to mount the two elevator servos vertically. I need to make the servo tray removable to service the tank and throttle servo if need be.

Shaping those blocks on the tail was ridiculous . Thank God for power tools. Almost time to build two wings.

Thanks spent the morning hinging and working on the tail skid. It's close enough that can move on to the elevators.

Got the elevator hinged and the fuel tank figured out. The red thing is quick fire fuel filter. Pretty cool holds a 1/2 once of fuel and makes priming easier. Also eliminates the need for a third line to fill. Now I've got to build 4 wing panels.

Last wing panel finished. It's back to my part time job at the hobby shop today. We're opening to walk in traffic with restrictions. Things will slowdown on the build. I have a bunch of sanding prep to do before covering.

Texas has a good plan. Here in El Paso we're still having some issues. I think we can get through this if people are smart about it. My wife will be free of me for a few hours while I'm working , I'm sure she could use the break. I'm happy to get back to work in my "retirement" gig at the shop.
Let's hope we're seeing that light at the end of the tunnel.

So there I was being all smart and stuff about the radio install and how to get to the tank and throttle servo if need be. It was a epic fail. I had to make the servo tray removable and relocate things. I'm pretty much done with the fuse so final sanding and covering are next. I still need to build the center sections of the wings.

The joys of scratch building. Well, it's all part of the fun, right?
Looks like she's coming together well. Keep up the great work.

Corona Build. Spent some time installing all the hard points in the wings and building the servo mounts for the ailerons. Finished the second center section and started what I hate most painting pilots. Needs a bunch of shading but it's a start. I have zero talent when it comes to painting pilots.

Your pilot definitely has a ghostly pale about him but not everybody is an artist I know I'm not. Hang in there.
