  • UMX Timber tail wheel damaged

The tail wheel of my new UMX timber was damaged by my 8 year old son while he was "playing" with it. I haven't even flow it yet.

Now the tail wheel is loose and I can't stabilize it. As it is tied in with the rudder connection, I'm scared that I will mes that up trying to fix it and I won't be able to fly it at all.

Should I remove the entire tailwheel and just do throw take-offs and grass landing?

Anyone with experience on this particualr damage?

    Thanks.

I've never used wheels on any UMX plane. However, on a Timber, it would look silly if you took the wheels off. I'd hand toss it but I think it can be fixed. I don't know what kind of damage there is or what it looks like but if the rudder hinge isn't damaged, use a little CA glue and squeeze (or let it wick in) it in there where the wheel wire goes into the rudder. Try your best to keep the glue away from the hinge.
