Hobbyzone Carbon Cup S2 questions (4) ....... "urgent"

Hi

I am a beginner in flying fixed wing planes (my last flight with Robbe /Graupner Trainers is 20years ago), so I have some questions especially about the Hobbyzone Carbon Cup S2 plane.

1.) What is the difference between the "old" and an actual model? (cause I have seen in a YouTube Video that previously it was 4ch, now 6ch....). How can I see it based on photos?
2.) Flaps (are optional). In the manual they said, the build in receiver in the RTF is not working with flaps. (The RTF DXS transmitter is not compatible with the optional flaps. The optional flaps for this aircraft require a computer transmitter with at least 7 channels) What have I to exchange? Only the receiver? Any suggestions? Which will work with the RTF transmitter? Or jhave I to change both? But on their website they say:

Nothing! Everything you need to fly is included. for the optional flaps you will need EFL1090 and SPMA3050
????What is correct now?
3.) Flight battery. They are using 2200mah 3S 11.1V Smart LiPo 30C; IC3
Any other suggestions? Or are these recommended?
4.) The Landing Assist Sensor Module (LAS)
is it good for Landing practice or not?

Hi. I would recommend studying the manual for these 'smart' trainers as you need to understand the various functions. I've had to assist quite a few people who show up to the field with the GPS-equipped Cub and Apprentice and they havent read up on how to initialise the plane, calibrate the compass etc.

To answer your questions:

1) The newer and older versions are very similar. The newer version has updated electronics which allows them to use the optional LAS, and has their 'smart' technology, which is just horizon branding for telemetry. The actual airframe is the same (i actually think it's a repaint of an old parkzone plane - there are still references to parkzone part numbers in the manual).
2) The DXS transmitter included with the RTF is only 6 channels. All channels are in use in the standard configuration: throttle, alieron, elevator, ruddy, SAFE and GPS. The receiver will work with flaps (see page 20 of the manual) as it has a spare port for the servo, but you will need a 7 channel transmitter because the included DXS is only 6. To install the flaps, you need to install the servo (e.g. part number EFL1090). The linkage for the servo comes with the plane.
3) Horizon only ever recommend their own parts. Any 2200mah 3S with EC3 connector will work. You might lose some functionality if it isnt one of their 'smart' batteries (with IC3 connector).
4) I think the LAS is not needed. This is an incredibly easy plane to fly, especially with SAFE.
