  • Setting up Flaperons on an Older PT-17 E-flight.

Anybody out there tried Flaperons on their Biplane?
Doesn't matter what make or model, just wondering if it's freezable,
Where I fly our runways are rough so I want to slow the plane down as much as I can before touchdown.
I don't want to end up doing a stall drop, hard on the landing gear, so I thought maybe flaperons might be the answer.

    Anybody?

That one I'm assuming I'd the balsa model, I never thought about doing this, but I think it would be ok, don't see why not. I can't remember so correct me if I am wrong here, these land a lot faster than the newer foam eflite model correct? What I would do it set them up, and try them at a high altitude to see what you get. If it doesn't work up there, at least you had tried it before finding out the hard way on actual landing.

Thanks for the support of the idea RM, I just received my Hookll Stearman pt-17 Army colors, there are spare parts for it still available.
I'm planning on using either a flight controller out of a Carbon cub or a Spektrum AR636A receiver.

So that should get me a controlled landing in SAFE for a few tries.

There was an old large, maybe 1.5m balsa SE 5a, that was a gasser with an OS 60 four stroke but the seller disappeared and the ad went away with no replies answered, it didn't have much detail stuff, no machine guns, exhaust system, and spoke wheels, no cockpit detail at all,

Maybe I could have found stuff to go on,it but what can i do, he doesn't answer his emails from me.
180 mile round trip for me but I was willing to pay his asking price, but,,,,,,,,?

I'vegotthree"collectors foamies from about 10yrs ago, good lookers.
