    Curious as to your selection of the Mk IX out of the 24 variants of the Spitty?

      I do enjoy spam, pan fried with a little soy sauce and brown sugar. Don't dismiss it until you've tried it!

      I like the Mk.III, Mk.Vb, and Mk.IX over the later models. I realize that later models with the bubble canopy allowed greater visibility and the clipped wings gave faster roll rate, but to my eyes it throws off the look of the 'classic' Spitfire.

        Spam is OK on a sandwich too. I've had many variations of Spam over the years. It was made quite famous in the British TV show "Monty Pythons Flying Circus".

        The Spitfire, in my opinion one of the most beautiful shapes ever to emerge in the form of an aircraft. So many people design and produce a model of the Spitfire, but very few get it right. Its wing shape and the dihedral that always appears wrong. If you get a chance to look at the workshop drawings for the real thing you will see it is a very complex shape. However when it is right, its gorgeous. Personally I like them all, but the early marks have more character in my opinion.

          I hear you Martin. Between the Spit and the Mustang, I just love both of them!! Especially the IX. Johnny Johnson and other Spitfire Aces swore by the nine, said it was the best of them all, guess they should know.
          I've been lucky to see a few Spitfires in my time, and what struck me the most was the size! They, compared to the P51 and especially the P47 (!) they were comparatively small airplanes, you really notice their racing heritage!
          So, I see where Motion R/C has just announced a Spitfire :) Mk IX :)! 1200mm :( oh well, I'll just have to hold out.... I was hoping that the next announcement would have been for another 1600mm or at least a 1400mm, especially following the success of the P38.
          I appreciate that the guys have to go through a lot to design these planes and I don't want to take away from the hard work involved to get to the point of a new release , but on the other hand, I can't help but notice that for the first week or so, they spend a lot time justifying the choice of 1200mm over 1400mm to the masses, where this never happened with the 1600 mm P38 and from what I can see, they can't keep them on the shelf!
          Also, since I'm off on a tangent now, I don't see much, if anything on the other Flightline releases, maybe a little bit on the Seafury, but that's about it, compare that to the P38.

          So, maybe to the masses out here in Flight Land, size does matter!
