    I just finished rebuilding my son's 21 year old Thunder Tiger plane. The servos "jitter" when the battery is plugged in but the switch is turned off (pushed in) The plane hasn't been used in 16 years, but when I turn on the controller(Airtronics) the servos settle down and work fine. Should I upgrade the servos to solve the problem. I'm hoping to finish everything on the plane by 12/6, his 34th birthday and give it to him, ready to fly. I also bought him a brand new one, still in the box with an electric motor. Next I'm looking for a recommendation for a decent Bi-Plane kit for myself to build.     I have no idea what this switch is controlling. It most likely is cutting off power to the ESC and motor but the receiver is still being powered. You should NOT be plugging in the plane first. The transmitter should be plugged in first. When the receiver is powered up and there is no signal, it doesn't know what to do, so it can react strangely, sometime even produce very dangerous results. It is most likely NOT a servo problem and is most likely an operator error.

      I agree with xviper mostly.. my mentor, who got me into this hobby, ALWAYS emphasized Transmitter first, plane second. The only time that was different (back in the day) when you’re at a busy field, you wanted to briefly turn on your plane first to check that somebody else wasn’t using your channel.. Today with bind-n-fly that almost never happens.. back in the FM days it was much more common. I can’t tell you the number of times I saw someone’s plane suddenly make a weird/scary maneuver unintentionally and 99% of the time it was someone at there bench turning on there radio before checking the frequency board to see if there channel was in use.
