  • P-61 Black Widow

With the recent addition of the P-61 Black Widow to the War Thunder flight simulator I have flown it in enough combat missions to become impressed with how great this warbird performs. It is almost about the size of a B-25 or A-20 Havoc but far more agile. This got me thinking that it would make for a great performing and looking RC model. From what I have seen around no one has made an electric EPO model of it yet. The Black Widow would be a great consideration for a new RC Warbird model.
Check out this short documentary and interview with the pilots that flew it in combat. https://youtu.be/53qn1cUTTmo?t=18m16s

Found a good video of the P-61 in action in War Thunder and a discussion of why this warbird was so unique.
Take note the P-61 was armed with:
4 × 20 mm (.79 in) Hispano M2 cannon in ventral fuselage, 200 rounds per gun
4 × .50 in (12.7 mm) M2 Browning machine guns in remotely operated, full-traverse upper turret, 560 rpg

Does anyone know of any kits made of this ,that would be close to scale with the FL P-38 ?

              Hello TS,
Have looked for better than a year for something in a foamy on this Black Widow and the only thing that is available is a balsa/ply 1/9 scale which is modeled by VQ.

VQ is a pretty good balsa ARF manufacturer in Viet Nam that makes some rather nice stuff and I speak from experience because I have their P-39, Dauntless and JU-52. Been holding out on buying the VQ P-61 because of some other models that are ahead of it on the budget buying priority list. Maybe by the time the Widow comes to the top of my list, FlightLine will hopefully(hint-hint) have modeled it.
There is also Kit Cutters who cuts 1/8 or 1/12 but unfortunately no 1/10th like the FL P-38

              Best regards,
              Warbird Charlie

actually the VQ is at the top of my list, but its not on their site anymore..does someone else carry it besides that link? the 1/12 scale would be cool too..could find plenty of action figures to customize for the crew lol
