  • Nexa Aichi Val - no love?

So... where's the thread? Cuz I haven't been able to find it...

It's not the only recent Nexa addition like that, btw.

Anyway - I have the VQ version of the Val. Curious if there are any changes/improvements? When I assembled mine, I opened the canopy (and replaced the alien being for a human pilot), added a gunner, dummy radial, tail hook and bomb drop (and scale bomb). Haven't had it out for a while, but not a bad flyer. Had to replace the stock wire gear, it was bending (not merely flexing - bending!) on good landings.

Nice plane. I’ve always liked the Japanese models.

    What prop is that?

Thanks! It's a 13x8 Master Airscrew. I gave the front a coat of aluminum and added some vinyl trim strips for the stripes.

Some of the new Nexa models don't have official threads yet, although the product descriptions direct the read to them (sans hyperlinks).

How did you replace the stock wire gear? I haven't even started to build mine and I can tell that the wheel pants won't even fit correctly.

A buddy of mine had some music wire of the same diameter. I just bent the new wire to match what came with the model. It's been a few years, and my memory's never been great, but I don't recall any issues with the gear & the pants. Mind you, having the fairing glued to the wing's underside and the pants just "tucked" inside provides some leeway.
