Taylorcraft Electric Airplane Kit, 40"

Hi I am relatively new the the hobby but I have some experience with balsa poor bunny wood models. I was hoping to get the Taylorcraft Electric Airplane Kit, 40". But I don't know if there is a better balsa wood rc plane on the cheaper side out there. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Welcome to the hobby! The Taylorcraft is a great choice, but you might also check out the Sig Kadet Junior—durable, forgiving, and beginner-friendly.

AM,

I am not the go-to guy on these 2 offerings; however, both of these would fill the bill as a decent first airplane, IMHO.

Wingspan is your friend and 4 functions is the goal (Throttle, Elevator, Ailerons, and Rudder).

Electric is so easy, though entry costs can be high as you'll need LiPo Battery(s) and a suitable charger for LiPos.

As for radios, check the 'does not include' column or 'needed to complete list' on any choice you might make.

A 40 inch wingspan is roughly 1000mm so go from there.

A tail-dragger is a bit more of challenge, but with proper instruction, that should not hinder you from learning to fly RC aircraft.

I would recommend seeking out a local RC club and RC field.

These will be invaluable in shortening your learning curve by a considerable margin.

If this is the aircraft you're thinking about buying, it is rated for indoor use.

Though, you might be limited to days outside with little to no wind.
