  • Cursed AT-6 Texan ..

Here is my story about my Dynam AT-6 Texan.... Bought it last black Friday sale. Went together well until putting the prop on.... Snapped the adapter.... Ok waited for new one to arrive and warm weather to fly.... Maiden flight.... Prop flies off on take off and resulting landing if you can call it that snapped both retracts out of the wings. Little bit of Foam tact and some cussing got it back together.. Maiden #2 Took off well prop stayed on !! Some minor trimming and its flying decent enough.
Landing had a small bounce but, nothing bad taxied past me and I turned off the run way into the grass to retrieve and I see smoke coming out of the canopy... Fried ESC!! Got the battery out before anything major happened but, I think this thing is cursed !!

Sorry to hear about the problems. Every now and again I think there are individual planes that seem to be more problematic not necessarily because all planes like it are bad but just individual ones. Some of it is also related to one thing leads to another, etc. A buddy of mine had a plane once that was really problematic for him so he sold it to another guy at the field. That guy took it and it flew great for him. No problems. One day at the field my buddy asked the guy he sold it to how the plane was doing and he said, "Let me show you how great this thing flies". He took off and turned back onto baseline and the fan came loose inside the EDF and the plane went in. It was an EPS plane so as it was described to me it disintegrated and my buddy said it was because he was there. In any event it may seem cursed but it is probably not and boils down to how much you want to fool with it. I have had some too that gave me fits at first only to turn out to be great fliers later on. Look into replacing the ESC and try it again.

Sounds like a severe case of gremlins to me!!! I don't know if holy water will disperse the fistey little critters! Worth a try. Doc

Sorry about your issue. Some of the Dynam ESCs have been known to be intermittent in quality. Hopefully a new ESC will get it flying nicely. I too have one of the "Perpetual problem" airplanes. I had an LX F-4 that had constant maintenance issues.

                  Hi guys!

Yea its frustrating to get a new plane that also came with gremlins with it. I will have to tell yea this plane does fly nice just do not get to under power with it in turns. Keep the power up and power threw the turns. Come in with power to that helps as well. On a side note I went with a 4's 3600 40c this really improved this plane nicely. I also put the flaps on as well and mrrcsound. Once this plane goes into a spin very difficult to get out of it at low altitude if at all just be ready.

I have a ESC to replace the bad one but, to use a baseball analogy... 3 strikes and your out !! Our club has a young flyer always looking for planes so this one might get donated...

Hopefully that does the trick. If not, I'm sure the younger pilot will appreciate it. When I was learning to fly a few years ago as a college freshman, I received a few donation planes that got me started, including a Kadet Seniorita and a mini Telemaster. Those planes got me hooked into the hobby. Now I try to pass it on. I gave away both those planes to other students and also passed on my F-4 to a younger pilot who had been flying for quite a while.

I have had a few similar issues with an FMS 800mm - Unfortunately I cannot fault the FMS it was all me *LOL* and pilot error.
