If i didn't already have the Carbon Z Cub, which was also designed by Quique Somenzini , I'd want one bad, but the size & performance are really similar between the 2 planes. Quique builds great stuff. I wish either Flex or Horizon would come out with a 7 to 8' span Cessna 182. I'd be all over it.

I don't think the Carbon Z can do 3D flying like the 170 can.

Depends on who's flying it! Check out Jase "The Ace" Dussia float flyin' the CZ Cub.

Exactly! Power to weight, balance and control throws are going to be similar. It's up to the pilot. My old CZ Cub had all the capabilities to fly 3D. It was just that I didn't have the skills to do it. One of my flying buddies flew his Cub 3D all the time.
The one thing I didn't like about the CZ Cub was that it had way too many fasteners to deal with when putting together and taking apart for transport. I sold it because I got fed up with the time it took to get flying when I got to the field. All those fasteners also seemed to evaporate like socks in a clothes dryer. I would love one of these but I'll have to have a good read of the manual to see how much there is to tear it down for transport.

Assembly at the field looks to be quick.

I checked out the manual. It's got one wing strut instead of a forked one, so fasteners will be 2 vs 5 per wing strut. The top screws are the same - total of 8 plus 6 servo connections vs 18, so only 4 less things to fiddle with. Will wait to see reviews before passing judgement. Oh, and it's a pricey thing at today's exchange rate.
Besides, I still have the big CZ T-28. I don't have room for 2 giant planes. For now, my little HobbyKing Tundra is serving that niche.

I have owned and flown both the CZ Cub and T-28. The latter is still a oft flown model in my current hangar. I love it! I was fortunate enough to line up the Flex Cessna as a review project for Jay Smith and Model Aviation magazine. And Quique and David sent the Night version. Oh man, I fell in love with this ones classic and vintage GA lines the minute I saw it.

Flying this giant model on floats in complete darkness is the most fun I have had in the hobby in quite a while. It is unbelievable. I edited down a short teaser video of it ... watch for it to appear on the MA website.

Bajora, are those tires hard like the CZ Cub. I replaced mine with air tires with zero pressure in them.

Yes sir, very much similar to the CZ Cub in composition and hardness.

Thanks. Those would have to be the first to go.

Seems like more than a few folks complain about the hard foam tires used on the FunCub, Tundra, CZ Cub, etc but they do a pretty good job of letting this style of model takeoff from almost any surface. They can be a little challenging to use when flying off of pavement or other hard surfaces but when used on less than ideal surfaces, they work pretty well IMO. Durable too. :)

Looks amazing on floats! Does anyone know if the floats are included with the plane? Or are they optional like the cz cub.

The floats are a $99 add on.

I talked to them this morning, they are expecting the plane to be at their warehouse on the 28th. Just a few more weeks of waiting then maybe we'll get our shipping notices.
