    ok guys I upgraded my P-51 with this motor and I'm having trouble figuring out how far can I push it to the max, I already burned up one motor already.

    I'm using a watt meter and I'm new to planes. I'm using a 65a esc with a 4s 60c 3300mah lipo, I asked the guys from rcgroups but I got more confused that before

    here's the specs on the motor

    32a continuous with 44a burst

    so after I install the prop I go to WOT and watch the meter I can adjust the point to lower the power to around 32a draw am I going in the right direction

    I know to watch the temp after each flight

    It sounds like you may need to re prop the plane. What dictates the amount of amperage drawn from the battery and through the ESC to the motor is the prop/motor combination. If you are over amping the motor, you likely need to change the size and/or pitch of the prop. Whenever you change a motor, you almost always need to change the prop. The prop which is correct for one motor likely will not work with another. Setting up a power system means you must find the right prop/motor combination for a given plane. Things that make a difference are the number of blades, diameter of the prop, and pitch of the blades. Each one of these has an effect on the amperage drawn for a given motor. The science is calculating the right prop and motor for what you want to accomplish with the plane. Do you want unlimited vertical? Do you want more speed? Do you want the plane to hover? What you want out of the plane will dictate the prop choice. From there, you pick the right ESC for the job and the right C rating for the size of battery the plane uses. In other words, if your prop/motor combination ends up pulling 50A, you need an ESC which can handle more than 50A. If your battery is a 3300 and your plane draws 50A, you need to calculate the battery needed. 3300mAh = 3.3A. 50A/3.3A = 15C. I like to leave 50% or more overhead so you would be fine with a 3300mAh 30C battery.

      I did change props I tried every prop I had and checked each one to see what the numbers showed, but I'm trying to avoid is buying a lot of props and then find out that I cant use any of them, I did order a couple of smaller and lower pitch props.

      I under stand now that the higher the higher KV I go the smaller and lower pitch I need to go, but even with a 12x6 two blade it pulled over 44a at WOT so all I did was lower the full throttle setting on my transmitter to I cant go over 44a, but I was also looking at the watts to see if it was still where I needed it to be at.

      and as for the battery I have more than I need I stuffed a 4s 3300mah 60c lipo

        Boogie,
        You might want to consider using a thrust calculation tool. As Tom has pointed out in post#2, the prop has three factors involved in affecting the power system.
        It has the most direct effect on how the motor/ESC behave and any one of those three aspects or combinations there of have exponential results and can be a very frustrating and expensive venture using the trial and error routine of trying to find the optimum set up you desire.
