  • Freewing AT-6

Well, I've been looking for an AT-6 for a while, and since Motion went through all the trouble to put the Freewing AT-6 on sale, I figured the least I could do is get one.

I've watched the build video and read what there is to read over at RCG and it sound like it takes a good deal of weight to get it balanced, but once it is, it flies nice provided you keep some speed up in turns and when landing.

I plan to wrap this one and letter it as a WVANG plane, which means mine will take even a bit more nose weight, but I don't think that will be an issue.

I would like to find a better looking acorn style spinner to fit it. Anyone here have a spinner suggestion?

It takes a ton of weight on the cowling to get the cg right. I mean a ton. I used stick on lead weights I got from a tire store. Once balanced it flies great, very smooth and good handling. I have my dual rates and expo set at 70/30...flies very scale, but slow. I changed out the esc and put an 80amp esc and use a 5cell battery, 3000 mhn and it flies faster ....the engine set up right now flies it very slow and thats why you get tip stalls when turning into final approach. Get the bigger esc and use a 5cell battery and the plane is very fun to fly. Otherwise it is just a slow scale trainer.
