    FMS PITTS (1400 mm) ASSEMBLY AND REVIEW

    This is my second Pitts, I traded off my first one for a LX Super B-25 bomber (with 2 batteries). Not a bad trade, but I really missed my Pitts. It wasn't long before I realized just how much. So I bought another one, just had to have this beauty back in my hangar again. It's mid November here in Wisconsin, so it will probably be spring before my maiden. Unless I throw some skis on and fly her off the snow. Hope you enjoy the video.

        Yeah, love the paint job John, I know what you mean, it's a fun bird to fly. It's actually my cutting edge plane right now, so if I can master it, and I'm pretty close to it now, I know I'll have moved up a notch experience-wise.

                Beautiful paint job! It looks like you might have a little bead expansion under your red paint. Using 2 coats of Varathane W.B. clear coat for a primer will solve this problem and also give you an even better finish. Doc

                    It's a pretty great airplane, once you get the CG right.
                    Every video I watched said to jam the battery as far forward as you can. Tried that and I don't know whether it was because of the decals or what, but mine was too nose heavy and that was before I cut the extra foam and tried it even further forward. Mine sits so that the rearmost battery strap just catches the end of the battery.
                    Otherwise I was getting some real bouncy, hard landings.

                      Gman... I'm seriously (finally) thinking about popping for the bucks and buying one of these. Would love to do a scale paint scheme on it. Hoping it comes out as nice as yours. Any tips on the airplane, as a whole, would be greatly appreceated! How did you remove the advertising? Doc

                        The decals are like packing tape, comes off fairly easily, however, somewhere way back someone suggested using ice cubes on them first, pulls off easier that way.
                        Great bird cavernous battery hatch++
                        Does not disassemble for transport--
                        plenty of pep and pretty easy to fly++
                        She was a little intimidating at first due to the sheer height of the bird, wingspan is the same as the Pandora! I once described her as the 1400 mm that thinks she's a 1700 mm bird, The motor is what most guys are converting the 1700 mm Corsair over to, so that should tell you something!
