How much weight can the t28 take in battery?
    Also the fms beaver?

  • #2
I know it's a big plane, but I never seen anyone try to stuff a beaver in a T28. :P;). All kidding aside, I know a 6s 5000-6000 is a sweet spot for it. I know a friend of mine ran a 6000 in his.
as for space in the beaver, I'm not sure

Hello Michaelj, The battery Motion RC calls for is the 6S 22.2 volt 5000mah admiral battery. The weight of the battery pack is 751 grams/ 26.5 oz. When your trying to maximize flight times, I always go with throttle usage and not a larger battery pack. Now understand, this is only on the larger 6S batteries. The 11.1 volt & others are less all the way around. I'll get to why, in a moment. The large admiral packs or other name brand 6S pack put added pressure on the landing gear. When you have a (larger) pack, it also takes the motor more throttle to pull itself around. Another thing is landing, you have to be more careful. That extra weight is what folds the front retract; if your not careful. All in all, the best method is to stay with the tested recommended battery size, type and voltage. There are also many reasons why the manufacture doesn't use another battery size on a particular aircraft. Mainly it's the fit, performance and center of gravity. thanks, Matt

I fly a 5.5Ah in my CZ T28 (up against the firewall) w/ a Master Airscrew 16x8x3 prop and upgraded ESC. Unlimited vertical. Many on another forum fly two batteries (the second one behind the first is almost directly over the wing, leaving CG unaffected) for a total of 10-12Ah. It has an ENORMOUS battery compartment. I have not tried two yet but it can fly **SO** slow I can't imagine it being a problem. Two would easily yield 15+min of flight time, probably closer to 20 w/ judicious use of throttle. First time I flew mine I had several owners of the smaller T28 versions comment how much slower it can fly than theirs (the 1.1,1.2 and 1.4m versions.) The thing is just a big glider w/ low wing loading. Another 750g of battery would go almost unnoticed.

I use nanotech 8000s and can't feel much of a difference in performance from my 5000s.

I use the admiral 5000 6's in mine with 2 transducers and sound card no issues. I think I could put my cat in it plus and the thing would still fly well. I could see someone using a 8000 in it sure.
