  • Pitts Dynam CG

I purchased a DYnam Pitts DY8947. CG is 85-90mm from top wing leading edge. Problem I have is I have to add weight to the front. EVERY video I have seen doesn't mention adding weight. In fact my battery is all the way forward while in the videos the battery is moved back apx a inch. Am I missing something? 4c 2200 battery

How are you holding it to check the balance? Just checking to make sure you're not holding it upside down. Landing struts on in the proper direction? This would locate the tires and wheel pants slightly different.
On my old Dynam Pitts, I was also using a 4s, 2200mah battery. I had to slice off a bit of foam on that narrow part at the front so the battery could go "all the way forward" to balance. If you're just putting the battery up to that narrow part, then it's not as far forward as it can go.
Some batteries weigh differently from one brand to another and some planes of the same model will balance slightly differently. Don't worry so much about what you see in videos. So long as you are holding it right, your plane will balance however it needs to.
PS. Reinforce the heck out of those landing gear struts. One rough landing and they'll swing back and those pointy wheel pants will punch nice holes on the underside of the wing.

I got rid of the wheel pants all together and went to larger wheels because of the grass at our field. Balance has never really been a problem but make sure you set up your throws on your comtrol surfaces to your skills. Mine could roll like a cork screw.
