  • FMS 1400 P51 flap problem

    Hi all:
I have a problem with the flaps, one, the left side will activate, but the right side servo doesn't move. It buzzes, but thats all. I can manually move the horn but it sounds like a mini ratchet when I do. Thought the screw connecting the horn to the servo might have been loose, but its tight. Checked all the wiring and it looks good, I'm thinking the servo is faulty, any opinions?

I would vote for faulty servo or wiring. Have a servo tester? If not, well worth the small investment.

Ok, MotionRC is sending me another flap servo, so now the big question is,how do I remove the old one. Is it glued on or something, I don't want to cause any damage obviously, so I'd love some guidance here

I had the same issue with my P51, Motion sent me a new servo as well, cured the problem. Great customer service for sure. Replacing the servo is easy. Servo is glued into place. I just simply used a small flat blade screw driver, Get under the servo and carefully pry up wards, once I felt it start to give, Stop, then pry up again from opposite side. It will pop out eventually. Mine popped out in such a way that scared the crap out me. Then once I saw all was good, I was relieved. Intense moment for sure. Then when installing the new servo, make sure it works and the throw is adjusted to match other side before gluing. Thats how I did mine, and have over 50 flights with out any more flap issues. Thanks for the advice. They sent me a new servo but its a different type as I stated in the other post. So it was a choice between a $6 servo or a $300 airplane in pieces. Ordered another servo and will install it ASAP. That should solve the problem one way or the other. Getting to know this airplane quite well, have had the wings on and off several times now.
