LOL Sure, he may be doing it for views, but it's not for money. He likely gets compensation (in the form of money and planes) from the people he does his reviews for and that might be hard to put into a $$ value. Fame maybe? :Silly: I hope he didn't quit his day job just to do this. And you're right, he has never replied to any questions I may have asked nor have I seen him reply to others (unless it was frivolous banter and not committing to anything that might get him into "hot water"). I would have liked to have received a reply but hey, I'll live. I'm sure he get's a lot of questions by PM as well. I can see where it would be too time consuming to address them all. I don't mind him spamming. It gets the word out. I don't care what his rationale is. I just care that I got to see stuff I like to see.
If it was not for the RCInformer buld videos I would have encountered a lot of undocumented problems that were solved for me thanks to the "Build" videos. Anyone who bought and built the FMS P-38's, the Freewing AT6, the Freewing Mosquito planes would know what I mean. In the RC Informer videos they went into expanded detail to show how to address various problems encountered during the build that were not addressed in the manuals. I had a number of questions answered as well when I contacted RC Informer for additional information. To a lessor degree RC Motion has also expanded some of their build videos to address problems they found during the build of a few aircraft as well.

Speaking of the P38. They never should have ended production of that one. I really love how it flys.

I had the FMS P-38 and now the Flightline P-38 - no comparison. I had nothing but trouble with the FMS one. In my mind, it was a good thing they stopped making it. I couldn't sell it. I ended up giving it away.

Dang mine flew almost as good as the flight line. With the 3s 3600 packs it had the power to hang on the props all day if I wanted. It landed easy, and I never had an unpredictable moment with it. The only thing I didn't like was the rudder servo in the horizontal stab. I thought that was tacky

You must have had the one in a thousand "Winchesters" that were "perfect". ;)
My FMS 1700mm Corsair ................. love it. My FMS 1450mm P-51 ............... love it. Each company seems to excel in certain models. IF I were in the market for the F7F, it would be the FMS. I prefer the size and the power of it.

Sorry, not trying to be testie, Just have seen too much of the bickering between the two major brands these days and fans of one or the other using an subject from one brand to belittle the other. Had my fill of it.

As mentioned the main difference between these two versions of theF7F is the $200 price difference.

From my review of the two planes it seems to me that the major cost item found in the FMS plane and not the Flightline plane is the new landing gear.

If you were to check other sites who carry third party landing gear you will find the price of landing gear varies greatly.

I am advised by those flying the larger nitro planes that the best landing gear out there is the pneumatic driven type. That type also has a major advantage should the system fail, the landing gear will not be retracted but will be lowered and ready for landing.

Those who have flown and tested the new FMS F7F are quite happy with the new FMS landing gear. If the landing gear is that much of a major improvement then it will be iteself be worth the $200 premium.

6s power - that's where the difference comes in. As for the retract itself, the FMS retract isn't going to be the money difference. Maybe the intricacy of the strut set-up will add a few bucks but even then, that's neither here nor there when people starting bouncing the thing off rough grass or unprepared fields. Even the retracts on the FMS 1700mm Corsair will get beat up on a rough field and those are plenty big and strong.
If you got the power upgrade on the Flightline one, you're closing the gap on $100.00 but that's still 4s. Change the power system to work on 6s and you'll come closer to that $200.00 mark. Oh, and stretch the size out another few inches on the wingspan and there's the rest of it. You may be comparing apples to apples but one is a Mac and the other is a Delicious.

Good points, but there is a little more to it than that. Hope they make more like this one. Both nice planes though in their own regard.

How did you manage to get one? They aren't supposed to be available for sale till end of November. Even FMS has them on "pre-order" only.

I assume that as I was a VIP member of their Web Site was the reason I received the pre-order offer, which I accepted and just recently I received an invoice and six days later my Silver F7F.

If you check the RC Groups site for this plane, the FMS 1400 P-38 you will find that there were a lot of satisfied users of the FMS P-38.

There is no doubt that the Flightline plane is also a fine plane, but then again it is more or less a generation later product.

Like all planes there are also some who had problems with the FMS P-38 plane as well. However the vast majority quite liked this plane and were sad to see it discontinued.

No need to check. I had the FMS P-38. For me, it was garbage - no satisfaction here. Total waste of money. I got rid of it so cheap, it was like giving it away. I think I got the price of the RX back out of it. The next guy flew it a couple of times and then hung it up as a ceiling ornament. He was a "biker" type. Had I charged him a buck more, he would have hunted me down and beat me to death with his Harley. When it flew, it wallowed like a pig in mud, poor alignment of some parts, tail booms were so flexible, they wagged like a dog's tail (and they were crooked). I now have the Flightline. What a huge difference. Unless FMS updates their P-38 (a LOT), they can't compete.
