    Dynam F6F repaint

Well in my quest to have the whole line of Grumman Cats, I bought the Dynam Hellcat V2. I'm painting it right out of the box so it's not yet assembled and easier to handle. I'll be doing it in the CafSoCal's bird "Minsi iii" (CAPT David McCampbell's aircraft). If you haven't read his story, do yourself a favor and check it out. Here's a few pics of where I'm at. The decals were purchased from None other than Callie-Graphics.

I used krylon plastic primer directly over the stock paint job, then did some preshading of the panel lines with an airbrush using model masters flat black. I'll be spraying the whole plane in "sea blue"

Well I went to airbrush on the dark sea blue from Valejo paints, and it's like a blue green. Looks nothing like sea blue. Had to order some more from model masters so it'll be about a week before I can make some progress

Well color is perfect. Model master dark sea blue. Bad news.... like a damn rookie I left the wings out to dry and the sun came out and bubbled up the tops of the mains alittle bit. I was pissed. But pushing on. Time to assemble and add decals. Weathering to follow after that. By the way.....does anyone have good or bad news about the LX F4F wildcat. It's the last cat I need to have all the Grumman cats(other than tomcat)

Decals are all on. Wrinkled one a little bit but other than that no issues. Weathering is next. This Dynam kit didn't come with any Y- harnesses so I can move the gear or anything yet. I'll do the weathering tomorrow or something. My garage is about 105 degrees. No breeze. I'm done

Well I made the most rookie move ever and left the wings out in the sun for the paint to dry and lost track of time and it bubbled the surface of the foam on the top side of the wing. The fuse and under side of the wing look great. I'm bummed about that.

I feel for you. I did something similar to mine and grabbed the wrong can of paint and sprayed the wing black. I quickly wiped it off and instantly weathered the plane. I didn't intend to do it that way though LOL.

I'm finishing the weathering on it this weekend so hopefully I don't F that up haha. Finally got the rest of the Y-Harnesses in the mail too so I can run the plane up

Well she's all finished and ready for her maiden flight. Very happy with how it came out. All that's left is the wildcat! Big thanks to Plastic_Aviator for the tips on the exhaust color variations too!
