Pandora Flap Installation

I'm new at this hobby, the only experience has been with Parkzone Micros and decided to move up to something that would give me more experience. After talking to people in the local club and reading & watching the reviews, I got a Pandora. To make it something that would grow with me I want to install flaps on it too. Which bring me to my question, would I use 2 "normal" servos or 1 "normal" and 1"reverse" servo? Looking at the cutouts for the servos, they're mirror images if each other making me thing I need one of each.

Unfortunately, the instructions on installing the flaps are just as lacking as the rest of the plane. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Keeping it as simple as possible - since you're mounting the servos yourself, just mount one opposite from the other - <i>voila!</i>
Lay everything out first, connect your Tx & try your 'proposed' layout first to make sure it'll work as you wish, then install what you came up with.

I installed flaps and it's best to use one normal and one reversed . You'll come to realize that you will very rarely use them . The plane comes in soft if you let it bleed off some speed . And if by chance you fly with some wind your not gonna want to use them , catches too much air and you'll start coming in choppy trying to land .

You may be right. I got one flight in today with it and it was rock solid. The approach was slow and straightforward but the plane ended up flipping over when one of the wheels locked and wouldn't turn. The only damage was a broken rudder clevis. The little piece that that goes in through the horn broke. Can't wait to get it replaced so I can get back up.

If your flying with the tricycle setup couple things you need to know . First the front wheel will constantly come apart . Use some thick or medium ca and hit the glue points on the wheel skirt . Then tighten the screw . I put rubber bands around to hold over night for a good curing with the ca .
Second , THE PLASTIC where the front wheel rod mounts to the plane WILL CRACK , BREAK ,AND JUST BUST UP !!!!!! . You need to put some reinforcement on the top plastic where the square mount secures . I put some balsa on the front and back of that piece between the foam and epoxied it very well . Let it set over night for good curing .
If you need more info. let me know and I will take a couple of pics and post for you .
It's just a bad design for the front gear and since there is no spring set for the gear that area takes a lot of abuse or just plain landing pressure .

Yep, know what you mean, which screw are they talking about!?!?!
My second Pandora was a snap to assemble.
Regarding flaps, you need one reverse 9 G servo, I made the mistake of ordering two thinking thats what they meant, nope, one reverse and one normal.
You'll also need a "y" harness to connect them as well, same as the ailerons. Everything else came in the kit.
Its a pretty simple install and the servos fit nice and tight. Instead of ordering another servo, I just cut the wing out and taped over both servos when I was finished

Wouldn't you know it, I get all this great information and my questions answered. I'm all ready to cut foam and install the servos... and I can't find the flap hardware that came with the plane. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

I would have bet anything I put it back in the box along with the tricycle wheels but nope, can't find it. I know it doesn't really need flaps...but I want them. Anyone with the flap gear they didn't want to install let me know please. I'll be happy to take it off your hands.

The only hardware is the control horns . Don't cut the flap on in edge where it connects to the wing , only the two sides . Then just work it very slowly at first then it will be loose enough for what you want

I know it wasn't much, the control horns and the linkage. Just frustrating, being new to this its much easier to have the linkage already the right size and all. Part of it I suppose.

I hear you, I got a set of plastic three drawer chests and then my wife donated her old craft plastic chest, everything goes in there in some sort of order. Even at that, its, "Honey, where's my...." or "Where did I (you) put that......"
Its probably easier to just hit the local hobby store, or MRC has them in parts and accessories. Go to the support page and phone or e mail them, tell them what you need and they're great for customer support as we all know!<smiley image="smiley_good.gif"/>

Another thing I did was take a Emory board and where you cut on both sides , file it a little bit all the way back . Giving it some extra clearance really helps them move freely .

Hey Brian, don't we both sound like old pros at this!! Wasn't very long ago we were in this exact position.
How time flies!!

You know thinking back Gman I ran gas and electric cars for years . Back then you had to think and do your own mods to make things work . I had one so hooked up it set about 1/16-1/8 off groung , two speed tranny , they had only just came out then . Front and rear sway bars and that montster was doing 75 mph then via a local cop radar . Now that's the norm but then we had to work and make things happen . All that running a two stroke motor so ran close to 12-14 mins .
