Hard landing busted the hard steel capped pin that comes out of the retract mechanism on the nose gear.. Landing gear strut is ok as is the tube that one end fits over that pin and locks in place with 2 allen head screws and holds the landing gear strut the same way. Can I get JUST that pin someplace or do I have to replace the entire retract mechanism? I don't see the pin in the spare landing gear section at MotionRC and have sent them the same question. Just wondering if anyone else knows, if they don't. Cross winds and small grass fields....I hate em but it's that or watch tv....

Hello Gunner,
Had asked many a question across multiple airframes about the lack of stock/pictures/specs as well as type designation.
REF: https://www.hobbysquawk.com/forum/rc...-nose-retracts
According to Wayne in his second response to me that the different Type designations refer to the Pin used to attach the Nose Struts.:
Hello Motion, Got the v2 fuze for my A6 and wanted to upgrade the nose retract with a little more robust one like off the P-38, F7F or the A10. Here's my
So both the Tiger and the A-10 use a nose etract with a 5.1mm shaft whereas the A-10 is a Type C and the Tigercats is a Type E
Since I have both birds I can tell you that the E is longer than the C.
Guys are fabing their own pins for the A-10 and which is probably the best recommendation for your Tiger unless you just don't mind dropping $16 for a new etract.
When Customer Service responds back to you, make sure to make a point that they need to stock that pin.
Use Wayne's responses that I referenced if need be.;)
That's all that I know

I know you guys were using that for the A-10 pin and I put it on my WISHLIST for parts replacement reference. Is it longer than the A-10 pin ? Cause if it's the same length it won't work on the Tiger cause it is longer than the A-10.Originally posted by TiredIronGRB View PostThe Freewing 1600mm Spitfire axle will work if you grind the shoulder down a little.Warbird Charlie

Thanks for the info guys. I see that I have to come back to the forum to see if there are replies, unlike others that give me an email notice that I have reply(s). Will go to the hardware store and see if they have any sort of capped pins that I can make do. Not sure that I can 'fabricate' one. Worse case would be to just buy the whole retract. I notice that on none of the many replies here are there any photos. Can't photos be added to these replies/comments?

IDEA!!!! I was just sitting on 'The Throne' where a lot of my best/worst thinking takes place and thought: what about using the right diameter NAIL for the pin??? Nails have 'caps', and only about an inch of it extends out of the rotating part of the retract mechanism. Of course the nail is not made out of hard steel like the stock pin, but I wonder if that might work? And if I upgrade to the knee action strut, that, and proper landings will help to take the bending pressure off the nail. Thoughts on that????

A regular nail will be a dismal failure but I remember reading awhile ago on RCG that some were having success with concrete nails.Originally posted by Gunner View PostIDEA!!!! Can't hurt to try but I would go with what TI recommended. ;)

Went to the hardware store and no luck finding 'pin' that could be used or made to use, all too big in diameter but with nice caps. Thought about the 'hardness' and found a nice black allen head cap socket bolt like used for motor mounting. Harder than a nail and maybe I can cut and grind the top to work as a cap. Other things to do in the mean time, but will get it going one way or 'tother.....

Damn, I just wrote a message and it disappeared! I am NOT good at these 'forum' things. CZ Flyer, I got your email and said thanx and gave my address, but don't know if you got it so am trying again. Gunner Benavente 400 Indian St. Wolf Point, Montana 59201
What does PM mean? Personal Message? Can you do email again with your address so I can more easily contact you? Gunner

Naw, that's ok. After getting my back yard shed broke into a week ago and my ice augers stolen I have big chains and padlocks on those doors and both yard gates.. Boobytrapped garage doors and hollowpoints in my .357 Mag. Airplane trailer back up til it hits the house so it can't be opened and big hitch lock in the tow tongue. But like a determined assassin or attacker, they will find a way.........Wolf Point isn't as nice as it used to be....
