  • Unlimited Hydroplane Simulator!

For years I have been looking for an Unlimited Hydroplane simulator to no avail. And just by the off chance I decided to look around last weekend and found one! Not only is it tons of fun and the graphics are decent but it's free. For any of you who like Unlimiteds and grew up watching them like me this is a blast. And for the icing on the cake there are tons of custom schemes you can add to the existing model. For instance, I added the "U-12 Miss Seahawk" and Sonics and other great schemes.

Like a damn kid in a candy store I tell ya!

The sim can be found here: http://www.uhlhydroplanes.com/hydrosim

Great find! This looks like fun.

I've never checked, but I wonder what type of RC ones are on the market today. I'll check today.

Aros How are the simulator's physics? Fairly accurate? Adjustable?

      That render looks really slick...

Alpha well preliminary impressions are the physics seem quite good. I haven't dinked around too much in the settings but I am definitely impressed with the overall fun factor, various cam angles, physics...Not hyper 4K real, but definitely great enough for free that's for sure. I am using my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro...Throttle, rudder (twist) and basic cam mapping. I love how you can choose various real courses like my hometown...Average top speed is 167mph...And yep, if you're not careful it will flip just as easily as the full scale.

After work I will post a quick video...

Here's my beloved Pay N' Pak in a modern body (fantasy scheme since the Pay N' Pak seized to exist after 1982).

Wow, that's some NICE electric speeds! Hopefully I can talk us into adding an Unlimited class to our boat line.

I'm listening, I'm listening... if there's interest, almost anything is possible.

The Proboat Stiletto was a nice ARF Tunnel. 4s with electric outboard. Pro - great look and easy to get on the water. Con - Heavy when competing against the other electric Tunnels in that class.

Keep up providing any info on electrics Jdcrow although I don't think we would close the door on the gas boats either. 1/10 scale, 1/8 scale...It would be a thrill to see the Unlimiteds on Motion RC.

Here's a super quick video of just a minute or two in the sim so you can get an idea. Any lag or chopiness may be due to the recording software/settings as I just downloaded it today. Frame rates are pretty decent for me.

Here's another video of me geeking out on my dreamboat the U-25 Miss Pay N' Pak, in a modern turbine boat I would give anything was in full scale. I really am just over the moon about this sim. I may join the league, their next season starts in September. Wish me luck!

Aros, thank you so much for posting this! My father built and raced limited hydros while I was growing up and this sim brings back a LOT of memories. The sim appears to handle fairly realistically, hydros can be a heck of a ride sometimes! I have been working on a project for some time- converting plans for the last 2 boats my dad built into 3D CAD. Yes, I managed to save the plans from my high school days until now!!! It is a challenge to get them into CAD and make them accurate- the old hand drawn plans had errors in the frame layouts. My dad had to hand loft each hull before final sheeting to get them right. I've been doing about the same except in the computer. One day I hope to have a full set of plans. Meanwhile, I'm having some fun playing with this sim. Maybe I'll build a small one for running in the pool.......

1967 Nationals at Guntersville, this was his last boat and ran in the 150 cu in modified class.

I am going to practice a bit before thinking about joining!!!
