gaskets for smoke units ?

Iroically, I flooded my smoker this weekend, and opened it up to mop out the excess. The gasket seems to have grown like 20%. I'm guessing it is absorbing the JT MegaSteam I use, causing it to swell. I soaked it in alcohol and it shrank a bit, but it is still at least 10% too large. I got it on, eventually, but what a PITA! May have to try the oil&RTV trick. -
these are Mato smoke units...they generally work better than the HL smoke units. a bead of RTV silicone over a coating of heavy oil like described above seems to have worked but im gonna try the silicone rubber mat suggestion next. I think the gaskets on these Mato smoke units are single use only anyway. I ended up locating the one I thought I lost and tried installing it again and it just wasn't happening. getting it aligned was impossible.Leave a comment:

You can find new OEM HL smoke units on AliExpress and eBay for $5 to $9 from time to time.Leave a comment:

Amazon has very thin black silicone rubber mats. I have used them for making mud flaps. You could cut a gasket out of that stuff. I've used it as gaskets on my 3D printed speakers so that the tops don't rattle.Leave a comment:

apply silicone first and than oil? What do you mean by " heavy oil" anyway?

Don't know where you could get the gasket but if you go with silicone just apply a bit of heavy oil on both parts and reassemble it, just don't do the screws up fully until the silicone is dry. Should be able to disassemble it easily after thatLeave a comment:

gaskets for smoke units ?
I dissembled one of the smoke units on a Mato tank over the weekend to try to get it to start smoking again, and in the process misplaced the gasket that was on there...
Any ideas where to find a replacement or can I just put a bead of some type of silicone on there ? I have RTV silicone here I am debating using for this..but I think that would create a more permanent bond.
