Got my Canyon today, it's allegedly a close to scale 1/10 W Motors Giath, first impressions are mixed. The chassis is all plastic which I knew, but the frame rails lock into t-slots and it's really more solid than I thought it would be, if you grab it by the bumpers, it seems there's quite a bit of flex, but that's coming from the bumpers, if you twist at the rails it's fairly stiff, n ot rock crawling stiff but more than enough for trail running and light crawling.
It says nothing about it being even "splash resistant" on the website and I doubt it is, the power switch isn't sealed and mounts on the bottom of the car up at the end of the driveshaft, esc and receiver are wide open although some what protected by fenders, the light controller is up high in body and somewhat protected by the fenders as well.
I haven't dug through the manual yet but I know there's full diagrams of the drivetrain, at first glance the first bad thing I see is the completely unprotected locking mech on the front axle, right up front where it's easy to nail and it too is plastic like everything else. The brake lock steering is interesting, actual disc brakes add a cool factor, it will be interesting to see if it's any better than regular DIG.
The body mount system is great, a bit finicky to lock down on one corner but still better than any of the other cars I have, it has headlights, tailights and turn signals and provision for a lot more, the pods on the roof front and rear, thrid brake light, even the roof bars look like they might be capable.
Now that I have it, I'm glad I got it on sale, the $449 regular price is a bit on the high side in my opinion given the amount of plastic but at $350, I'm good with it.
