Question is there really a difference between the power to turn a 5 head rotor head on a 800 size Roban 500 MD scale helicopter. I'm speaking about the scorpion motor 4035- 460KV motor compared to the 4035-560 could some one please explain the difference will it really have any increase on a 5 blade rotor capability to have more torque lifting power . I would think not opinions needed please . Jim

Scorpion motors 5 head rotor
HKIV 4035-450Kv Brushless Motor from Scorpion - SCO-1216 The Scorpion HKIV 4035-450Kv Series Motor is designed for use on 700 and 800 class helicopters running on 12 cell Li-Po power. This motor represents the most technologically advanced power source ever offered for a 700-800 class electric helicopter. The 4035-450KTags: None

Your motor selection will depend on you gear ratio and your target head speed.
Given its a 5 blade, it will require less head speed than a 2 bladed for same amount of blade pitch.
For 800 size blades I would shoot for no higher than 1600 RPM range given its a scale.
(44.4 volts x 460 kv) / ( ? main gear tooth count / ? pinion tooth count ) = Head Speed

I would go with the 450KV myself, I've had 3 of the 800 size Roban MD500 and they fly great with a 450KV motor, I was at 75% on my throttle curve which is perfect in my opinion leaving 25% headroom, and no issues, 560KV more than likely will work but will have a higher head speed which you may have to govern down more which ESC's do not like, I sold my 500 so I don't remember exactly where I was at on the head speed but I do remember it was around the 1280-1350 rpm range, I don't think you need more than that on that Roban 5 blade head.Originally posted by Oceanchaser View PostQuestion is there really a difference between the power to turn a 5 head rotor head on a 800 size Roban 500 MD scale helicopter.
