  • Battery packs with Short flight times

I recently purchased the rotorscale 250 size apache. After paying close to $600.00 dollars after tax and the battery packs only give you 6 to 9 minutes of flight time! Come on! This is the year 2025 we are not living in the 90's. The technology that gives you more out of a battery pack for longer flight times, that technology is out there right now. For the price tag that is put on these RTF GPS helicopters, they should be able to give you a higher quality battery pack that gives you closer to double that 6 to 9 minutes of flight time.

Umm.. In RC, 6-9 minutes is pretty good flight time.. Most scale helis typically would be in that range of flight time. Remember, this isn’t a drone. The payload is the scale fuselage. The battery has to be small enough to fit in inside the fuselage. And, you want it to have a wide flight, which also tends to drive a question for lower weight. If you want 20+ minutes of flight, try a glider, or a drone.

If this wasn't 2025 and if it was the 90's, you wouldn't even have little helis like this and certainly not batteries that would give you 6 - 9 minutes flight time. The battery tech may (or may not) be out there, but they are so specialized and new, you'd never justify paying that kind of money to fly a little toy model.
I've got 5 - 450 to 470 size helis and I get about 15 minutes flight time out of them and each one cost over $1000.00. 15 minutes is still too long to fly any of them continuously. I split them into 2 flights each.
