  • Fly Wing 450 V4 scale UH-1. Initialization problem. Only Red light...

Hi All. Recently purchased what looked ot be a great Heli. Still looks good. When I unpacked it seems ok, no damage. I tried ot access the bird inside and realized the GPS would like not function( hidden from the S/C). So took it outside and tried notihng but red light. Finally through a combinationos switches I did get a Blue lightr and was able to spool up..twice...Since then nothing. D/L complete manual. Better diagnositcs but still no blue or green light. Tried the compass cal. They did nto change but may have screwsed it up. Thinkingof re binding the Tx to the Rx. When I apply power ot the helo. the servos go through their dance just as typical on first power up.Need some guidance please. Very frutrated..Thanks for any light anyone can shed. Krf. I have several of these Flywing 450's - Airwolf, BO105, EC135 and 450 V3. I only did the compass calibration on the very first one. Since then, the later versions of the GPS units did not require doing the compass dance. They simply just worked.
What I discovered was that all of them needed to be initialized (battery plug in) outside, in a clear area with no nearby structures that could interfere with the satellite acquisition. When plugged in at a poor location (such as indoors or near obstructions) and then moved to a clear location, the heli had a very hard time hooking up to the required satellites. Even when initialized in a "good" location, it can take upwards of 2 minutes before the "ready" light came on. Once plugged in, don't touch the heli. Just let it sit and do its thing. Usually, the first flight of the day takes the longest. After that, if you fly it again, the subsequent times don't take as long. Also, all switches need to be "UP" when plugging in. Then, if your switch for "GPS" is not in the uppermost position (which, by default, it should be), put it to that position right away, then walk away and let it sit.
