Pleas Know that in my last post I was not minimizing the present topic. In fact in my club I have never seen more then one pilot in the air at one time. I will check with my club to see if this is a rule or just normal procedure in this group.
Always fly in the middle of the air and stay away from the edges. Edges of the air are identified as trees, ground, water, buildings, etc.

Now that I think about it, I'm glad there were no graphic representations because that would bring too many memories to surface that I have tried to forget for a long time.

Had a real close call last week. I was flying my DYNAM PITTS down the runway at about 50ft when a turkey buzzard came up suddenly from below and completed a midair collision with the PITTS. Feathers flew and the impact was loud. The bird recovered before striking the ground and flew away, while I circled back and landed to assess the damage. Lower right wing panel had two moderate sized dents in the leading edge, some feather debris in them. That was not the close call! I looked the plane over from above ,and the dents appeared to be the extent of damage. So I went back up and wrung the plane out some to see if it changed the flying characteristics, and the answer was no. This was the close call, because at home as I started to place the plane up overhead where it is stored, I noticed the lower right wing was ripped from leading edge all the way back to the spar, but invisible from looking from above. A quick fix with medium CA and it is good as new. The point is, make a COMPLETE and THOROUGH inspection after an event such as this. I love my PITTS, and I'm glad it is still alive and airworthy.

I joined a new club a few weeks ago and I was flying my Tiger Moth and the head pilot trainer was standing next to me giving me some pointers about the winds at the field ect and we/I was doing touch and goes just to get a visual aspect of inbound/outbound legs and after about 10 of them I come down and touch down and low and behold the President of the club was on the runway setting his plane up for takeoff.......I didn't hit him but, it was close.... We did have a little chat after that!!

Wow. I'm sure you had some words for him. You would think that at least he would have announced his attentions.
